Equinox running hot on nickels today...

I went back to an old school that I have hunted many times and now quarters, dimes, and even pennies are getting scarce there now
I have been digging more nickel signals the last three hunts there hoping to find a war nickel or a buffalo... well after three trips and 54 nickels, I finally found one of each today.. first of either one I have found there.
I also got a dollar coin.. I think my seventh one this year.
Thanks for looking!

I was looking for gold too.. I have dug quite a few nickels this year including buffalos, and war nickels, but not one piece of gold yet.

You're obviously a good metal detector, and you're pulling up coins by the handfuls almost weekly. Are you the only metal detector in your community..? It looks like you have a monopoly..! Unfair..! Unfair..!
😜

I have dug nickel signals out at my local lake which was built in the 40's. Have dug about 100 nickels and only 1 buffalo and 3 war nickels. The tongue on the pull tabs come in like a nickel for me when the sensitivity is over 20. Gets really annoying since I run in all metal to try and pick up the smaller and thinner gold rings. There are a bunch of nickels out there as most people won't dig them too often. Anyways nice finds!

looks like you are single handedly solving our national coin shortage

You have to dig those nickel signals good job! And I hit two nice gold rings one was 14k 11.5 grams and a real nice 14k KOC ring both rang up in the 20's

Not the only person that detects around here, but most are relic hunters and the ones that hit these areas looking for silver have moved on.... been at it since 2006 and things are slowing down now around here, but finds are still to be made... just have to hunt harder and slow down.... this is about 6 hours worth of detecting yesterday

Oh yeah ....those tabs fool me too, but not too bad.... I’ve had decent luck with buffalos and war nickels this year.
Also some war nickels read quite a bit higher than a regular nickel... found one that gave a TID ID 21-22 a few weeks ago.
I usually don’t dig many nickel signals either, but things have slowed down at my sites and I have started concentrating more on those types of signals... overall, I am impressed with the Equinox and it’s ability to accurately ID nickels.

They usually come in a little bit quieter and don't hit as hard as nickels do. I have almost been able to tell between them as nickels come in smoother and the deeper ones come in a solid 11-12. Dug a v nickel 8 inches down in bone dry dirt and it was at an angle. After that I knew I wasn't missing anything at the sites I am returning to.

Yes for sure. I only run in park 1 around here as I have it down perfect for the Illinois clean black dirt. I used to never run in all metal and now I always run it wide open after I tried it in a super trashy backyard. Went over the backyard once and got around 16 coins and about 20 pieces of trash. Went back over in all metal and pulled 12 more coins including 2 silvers and 4 wheats that I missed. Some were even right next to other holes I had already dug.
