How did everyone do for a silver count this season?

Being as it doesn’t replenish itself, how are we doing on continuing to extract our favorite colored coins? It seems to me that since people keep posting finds of them on all of the forums, we are either getting better with our machines, getting better at finding sites, getting in more hours or a combo of all of these things. I’ve never bought a coin in my life, except for a gold coin bought as a gift for a friend. Every silver coin I have has been dug out of the ground. What say you? Is there enough left to keep us going? How have you done so far this season?

Even though I haven’t received my etrac yet, I dug 57 silvers this year, bringing my 3 year lifelong total to 95. When my etrac comes I’m going to pound lots of my old sites and try to get a few more silvers, who knows I might hit 100! I would keep going!

I'm at 37 so far. Still trying to get in a couple more days if the weather will hold out.

1902 oldest barber dime
1939 oldest quarter 1954 youngest silver quarter

Most of my silver is mercs from the 1940's.

That is telling me to keep looking for older ground.

I'm working on a baseball field for this weekend. I can see the outline of it on an arial photo from 1958. My digging partner is 73. His dad told him he used to see model t's parked at this baseball field as a kid.

Good luck everybody.

I have not had a good year. No gold and no silver coins. Dictator Mayors at the local beaches drastically reduced the number of people who could visit By making most of the parking spaces into no parking spaces . There fore cutting drastically the amount of jewelry one could find. Lost an entire month to sickness. But life go on and i am still upright and taking nourishment.

I've got four silver coins this year, two liberty standing quarters, one barber dime 1914 in mint condition plus one mercury dime.
That's roughly around 200 hours detecting which equals one silver coin every 50 hours hunting.
Maybe that's why I get so excited when I find a silver coin.

This is the best year I ever had for silver and they were all found in well-beaten areas. I realize this is the E-trac forum so I will refrain from discussing what detector I use.
I calculated and spent 185 hours in the field this year.
Best of luck to all and be safe. - Jim

I have also had my best year of finding silver coins since I started in 2006.
I’m up to 75 silver coins.... all but one on public property.... schoolyards and parks.
One thing that helped me is with schools being closed due to the virus, I was able to spend a lot of time there before it got hot this summer.

“Upright and taking nourishment”....🤣🤣Love it George! I’m glad you are feeling at least better, if not the best. Sometimes finding anywhere TO detect is a PITA, I hope you get a reprieve from the Mayor soon down there!

Oh boy! It is REALLY easy to get spoiled when a great spot or a great streak comes along! I recall finding a silver coin at about the same rate when I started, but that “wouldn’t work” now...see? Spoiled. To tell you the truth, I find DETECTING ITSELF...the thrill of the hunt...to be the real enjoyment. Sounds cliché, I know. But it is, and that has a lot to do with WHAT I’m using, and I know that I WILL find coins I want. At that point it’s just a matter of time...

Whoa! That’s screamin‘ right along there Jim! In a lot of areas, a few a year isn’t bad! 20? You hunted a LOT! 50? Getting real tough. 75? You’re hunting a lot and traveling to get to new areas. Approaching 100? That’s a damn hard thing to do no matter what, and is really only done on a year after year basis around major population areas. I don’t know where you are...but you have some GREAT hunting ground to go with that mystery machine!😃

ANOTHER one! 75 is HARD TO DO! You have to be DISCIPLINED, have a SYSTEM, know your machine VERY well and SILVER must be the primary goal....EVERY HUNT...ALL HUNT. There is no other way, odds do not allow it. A dedicated hard hunter with a system who knows his machine is DEADLY. And 75 silvers on the year shows it.

Well...if you weren’t blowing all your time on finding rings and making money, you’d have 3x that Clare!🤠 I’ll pony it up and become a RingFinder someday, but you’re gonna have to come over here and show me how to do it first! Until that happens...good luck with your ball field, they are my FAVORITE place to hunt!

I’m watching with great interest CB, and for a very specific reason. Many times as we get older, we get very set in our ways, and at 52 years old, I feel as if it has happened to me in various ways. You know the old saying, “You can’t teach an old dog a new trick”? Well, you are a NEW dog, about to learn a NEW trick...you are relatively young and haven’t had a chance to have your opinions about “what works” influenced that much by your past experiences. In other words, you have a pretty unbiased view and are mentally open to accepting the results of whatever you see...a “fresh set of eyes”. I can’t wait to see what those eyes see...

Silver around here is a bit elusive. But that being said..... I started off with a ‘43 WLHD on campus followed by the ‘58 Canadian Silver Dollar just a few feet away days later. A well worn ‘38 quarter, then more recently the ‘67 Kennedy and the ‘07 Barber half dollar. Not complaining about the big silver but its all out of proportion to not having found the smaller stuff. My totals from the last 10 years is maybe 25-30. I do have a couple old homestead sites to explore this next year so maybe that big burlap bag of silver dollars in still in my future! Ok, so maybe I just woke up......

Thanks. Of course I can’t open my etrac until Christmas morning I’m dying to use it! But I got the book on the explorer and the etrac by Andy Sabisch I think, so I will read that while I’m waiting. I’ve already picked out some sites to go to once I get it so I’ll hope I can get my last 4 silvers I need!

“Big burlap bag of silver dollars”.....🤣🤣🤣 You can’t be happy with just one Ron? Gotta be a whole burlap bag of them? As they say...if you’re gonna dream, dream BIG!! I like your style!

Couldn’t figure out how to put this with my initial post so it goes here...85 I think....

There really isn’t Jim, it’s an addiction. We have ALL questioned our own sanity at one point or another regarding how far we might drive, how many hours we might spend, how tired we might be and still go detecting...but in the end it’s a quest to SEE IF WE CAN DO IT....the thrill of the hunt. We’re not ”making money” at this. In some cases it has taken away from family time, or put other projects on the back burner....but it’s OK. An addiction with an actual positive return is one I can get on board with! Thanks!
