Deus 2 most anticipated release ever..

Do we ? If you know it's an aluminum can, do you dig it every single time ? My buddy and I were hunting an old school. Finds were sparse and there was a lot of aluminum. I mean a ton of cans in the ground. It's not in the best part of town. he knew it was a can and called it. I jokingly told him to dig it, maybe there's a silver coin under it. Sure enough, a nice silver Washington directly under the can.

One aspect of hunting that rarely gets mentioned is sizing your targets. If you're hunting for buttons, old coins and such and there is a big piece of brass, many will not dig it thinking it's too big. However, it could be masking something. So no, not everyone digs everything. Some like you do. I've hunted with too many guys who are hunting size specific.

Comparing an ACE 250 to a Deus like he did in one video is just silly. One cost 200 bucks and the other is 1100 bucks. If you're a long time vet of detecting, chances are you've moved up in detectors. As far as depth, it's not going to be the same across the US. Nail test is a good test but what if you have 4 or 5 nails sitting directly on top of the coin or button ? If you're getting a scratchy tone and don't dig, well you've lost what could have been a good find. The only absolutes in our hobby is you have to dig trash if you want all the goodies. Also, gold can show as iron on the Nox.
If I know it's an aluminum can the I do not dig it Everytime ... Why? Because after 40+ years and many years in the Dept of Corrections my knees are both replaced and have found enough over the years to pass a few. But yes I have found silver coins under aluminum, quite a few times. I usually dig everything above iron unless I've been digging 6-8 hours and I'm tired. Then I pass a few .. that's why I may pass a few fuzzy choppy signals. But back to original issue... If a detector can't pass the simple tests I have never found where it can do better out in the wild. So I won't use those detectors. If I'm in a field with civil war potential I dig every target above iron. Then if i get a second chance at that place I dig iffy signals. So performance has to be good for me. I don't use detectors that are uncomfortable to swing all day either. Garrett with the super short arm cuff adjustment only goes half way up my forearm. Make the detector very unbalanced. Or should I say I don't use them long term. They are sold quickly. I don't use Garrett, whites, tesoro or First Texas for my own reasons as there are much better options for me. They have to pass the simple tests first then have to be comfy, and not out of business or at least have a unit not 15+ years old as the best one they sell. So as of now XP, Minelab, and Nokta Makro would be all I use. There are several other foreign companies but don't care to try any of them.

Dude nobody like a rat. Calabash is a big boy he can take care of himself.
Yeah, I could have just reported it and hide. I ain't no coward. A little tip for you and guy that did it, don't get emotionally involved. It's a sign of inferiority complex.

Here's an iffy target.
Big chunk of iron with that Chinese Cash Coin stuck to it.
The only thing in the hole...
The XP Deus can and will it sniff out.

Deus II... If performs a well, I will be getting one.
As far as depth in H2o I've had cameras that were good to 10-15 feet and flooded them free diving.
66ft will give me the ability to use it with SCUBA.
It will open up sites that I've had surface finds while diving.
I look forward to the reviews...

No matter what forum you’re scouting out. You can bet your last dollar if there’s a Calabash there you can count on a skirmish. But it does relieve the monotony of camp life.
I like his videos, but I am with you about his "ability to get the worse out of everyone who disagrees with him" I for one wish he would post his opinions and then shut the F up.

As far as calabash give the man credit all you guy's that don't like what he say's well be the first to watch his videos where else well you (SEE) how a detector preforms to another.
Not from a manufacturer in the late 60s and early 70s all you had to go on was what the manufacturer said (would they be bias to there's ) .
So when you bought one you were stuck with it now you got a guy showing you what it can do and not do and people still bitch i don't get it .
If you don't want to hear him talk mute it . But i know you guy's well be all ears when he does his test .
He's a asset to the detecting forum like him or not at least i can make a better decision when i purchase .
If deus trumps minelab or the legend does what do you think minelab well come out with that may be sweet to wait for.
I look at it this way you can't please everybody if you don't like his videos make your own and post it . sube

Nah, I run my own test. I don't watch his videos to learn a detector. There's nothing he can teach me.

So when you bought one you were stuck with it I'm never stuck with a detector my dude. If I don't like it, I get rid of it.

Calabash depends on fellas like you. Good to know there are fellas like you who need him.

BAWAHAAAA. Emotionally involved ? Calabash made a video to try and dispel a rumor he wasn't banned from another forum. I think maybe you need to google the words emotionally involved.

Just where the heck would you sell this back in the late 60s and early 70s and as i said without the detector how well you test (BEFORE YOU BUY) most people can't buy ever detector that comes out they buy 1
I do my own test to like you .
Some people just don't get it .
ASk yourself what's the forum for (SHARING IDEAS SETTINGS AND ON )
There's nothing he can teach me lol
Well then why are you here if you know it all (PLEASE SHARE YOUR VAST KNOWLEDGE)
I am sure other members would like to learn I have over 50 years detecting and i still don't know everything that's why i come here. sube

As all of you can tell I insulted Kajunmans detector one time...:heh: Wait till I show what the DEUS 2 can do...
First i promise to not get controversial:) This question is directed primarily to CD and Sube because I hunt mainly with the Deus and 3030 but anyone is welcome to contribute. I do some fresh water and fresh water beach hunting but no salt and no diving so my question is a little different. It looks like my 3030 is wearing out(I believe that the internal speaker is going out which may be able to be repaired on its own or may require one or both mother boards. ML repair hasn't a clue). Considering the cost of the Deus II and how I would be using it(simplex in water), I could get a new 3030 below MSRP for not a tremendous amount more than the Deus II UNLESS I were to find that the Deus II would do a better job of identifying really deep targets which is the main complaint about the Deus. This is where the 3030 shines but it has its drawbacks too like super slow especially in trash. My gut tell me to wait and see what someone will tell us about ID on deep targets compared to the Deus. Thanks.

His depth test is indicative of his ground. It could be more or less in other parts of the US. Furthermore it would behoove a person to do their own depth test in their soil for accuracy. As for the nail test, it's one thing to be looking at a nail and a coin on the ground knowing where it is compared to in the field hunting.

FTR, my F75 SE LTD is still deeper in my soil than my Nox. That's just a fact.

No one knows what the Deus 2 can do yet. If you like your Deus then wait for the test. Since you hunt fresh water you have multiple options.

Yes I know the depth is on his soil, so my point on that, if it can't pass in his extremely mild soil how on earth could it pass it Alabama red dirt? But I also test detectors, and have owned most of them and he pretty much tests they way I do. Set up some situations in his soil and other test like elevated nails etc. I've been doing that for a couple decades but I don't use video. Don't get me wrong, I used the Fisher F75 for many years and loved it. I've used all of the tesoros , whites, FT , Tarsacci, XP deus for about 8 years, some of minelabs - ctx 3030, etrac, safari, equinox 600/800 , vanquish 540/440, Xterra 705, and out of all of these the XP deus does the best. The main reason I had an equinox is because of simultaneous multi-frequency and waterproof and I live on the Gulf Coast . Well I lived in Ohio when I bought it but took it to beaches and lakes and rivers. I don't like it's build quality. Too many issues. The deus is as deep of deeper than most anything I've used plus I can take it in a carpet of nails and feel good . As much as I loved the Fisher F75 LTD side by side tests with deus it just could not compete. But also understand, part of my fun in this hobby is testing detectors.. and watching others test them. To me it's fun. I'm retired from Dept of Corrections so listening to Calabash and his no nonsense straight forward approach is perfect .lol that's how I am. If you claim something does this or that then show me. That's all. If you can see a person's passion in what they love then you will not see that same person as a jerk. Sometimes passion comes across as a person being a jerk but that is actually not even close to the case. Oh and back to that soil, his soil is like air testing lol. The detectors he says are not good enough may work fine for most people that only hunt parks and school yards. But when you have 1 chance to find the goods you need to be sure you have the best tool for that job. He sees all of this advertising Garrett does and makes them look like the best detectors on the planet along with a few forum members lol. Well Garrett's flagship today came out in the 90's. These are things we all point out just to poke fun i guess. These new detectors coming out makes me exited. The new deus 2 is on order and I can't wait to get my hands on it .

I have a Nox specifically for the beach. It's been fantastic for me in that regard.

I have the same passion about detecting as the most avid detectorist. There are different ways to express that passion.

Like you, I'm excited about what is coming next. I have what I need regarding single frequency detectros. And like you I live on the gulf coast so only SMF will interest me at this point. There is one specific piece of jewelry that I'm waiting to see how the two newest offerings perform on.

How the heck did you end up in Alabama ? As an LSU fan I have a pic of the United States with Alabama cut out of it. It's caption reads " imagine a world without Alabama". Of course it's purple and gold in coloring. LOL

Well I'm 54 now and wife retired from post office in 2016 and we have always camped in the south, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, The Carolinas etc and in June of 2019 we were on dauphin island Alabama camping, drove over to Baldwin county between mobile bay and Florida and ended up having a home built for us. We drove back to Ohio to let family know and started the process of selling the house I lived in since 1979. It sold in 45 minutes through Remax and we became Alabamians lol. We have childhood friends in Ocean Springs Mississippi and now some family has followed us and we love it here. And I completely understand the College football competitive nature lol. I've watched Alabama football for many years. I also like Ohio State Buckeyes .. they just moved up to number 2! Georgia is looking so good though. As far as detectors I used to own and keep 5-8 detectors at all time. No longer do that. Just 1-2 . If the deus 2 is as good as I think it will just be 1 detector for me. Though I will keep my stem assembly from my deus now and buy and extra coil and headphones to have 2 so I have a loaner .

Football is my other passion and hobby. I used to write NFL draft player profiles for a football forum. I've been interviewed on the radio discussing NFL draft stuff. When I took up metal detecting my friends were shocked I became so passionate about it and couldn't believe I would let it take up some of my football time. But hey, it's a great hobby.

You live in a great area. It's nice there. Orange beach is one of the great under the radar beaches in the US.

I'm expecting OSU vs Georgia to play in the college football title game. Anyone but Alabama, LOL.

Happy Thanksgiving!
