People Planting Finds

A few years ago I planted a gold colored token in a field on the farm here. It was a Garrett token. I planted it specifically so my brother would find it. We are always playing jokes on each other. Now I can't even find it. Been searching for it ever since I planted it. I was going to hold a straight face when he found it which I realized later would not happen. The point? Detecting is a fun thing to do. I love it but I don't take it too seriously. At my age and having detecting for over 48 years I don't take much seriously. But to make false claims of finds? That, I don't get. Ego stroking? I have no idea!

WHAT? I watched his Youtube detecting video's all the time are you saying he planted finds?
Say it ain't so Kevin.
I was talking to some people believe the same thing about the president Hoover Boys?
He most definitely planted the love token and if he planted that I'm going to go out on a limb and say most if not all of his finds are lies.

It wouldn't surprise me about them doing it too

He won't so that. The dude is a coward and made his videos private when he was outed. He then turned off comments and continued on like nothing happened. He made a point to bring it up but danced around it and said something like I'll address all of that. He apologized for people posting on his YouTube but doesn't apologize for being a dirtbag planter
I always wondered about those videos always pulling rings 1" out of the grass crazy! I've asked people that make nice finds say gold coins if they let the owners know never got a response!

Way back in the late 80's I was using a fisher gold bug nugget hunting in North GA. I wondered what the signal would be like on a cache of coins. So I buried a metal bandaid box full of coins in my back yard near my small pond. To this day I cannot find the small cache of coins. I since have torn up the small pond and suspect the cache is now covered by wild bamboo patch. If so, I will probably stay their forever.

Yes, people who plant coins and lie about what they find are an insult to this great hobby.
They obviously don't understand the "thrill of the hunt" and learning all the history and are more concerned with feeding their own ego.
Dave
I think they understand the thrill Dave but just can't produce naturally so artificial is their answer. So sad they are 🤥 liars and cheats

When we first moved into this house 20 or so years ago now, except for a back yard swimming pool, there was only a large deck and a few small flowerbeds and a few small bushes. I went about sanitizing about a 5' wide patch of ground and planted 3 silver dimes 7", 8" and 9" deep a couple of feet out from one corner of the deck. Over time my green thumb wife added a few more bushes, shrubs and flower beds of which, one was a small Japanese maple nearby my 3 test garden of silver dimes. Of course, over a few short years time that small Japanese maple became a large one and spread out over the test garden dimes. I suspect they are gone forever. HH jim tn

Harvest the Boo.
Then look for old rusty can.
Good Luck

I think the vast majority of the cheaters are on youtube where they get paid based on subscribers and viewers. See Ed the beach hunter on youtube. It is hard for me to believe he finds the amount of rings on California beaches when other respected California beach hunters don't even come close to 25% of what Ed finds.

I recently spoke with a guy that says when he was younger, be buried a gold coin given to him by his uncle in his yard.
He told me he should get a detector and go back and find it…
I was reluctant to believe his story…. Sounded far fetched to me.
