Legend in modern trash

The higher fidelity phones have a wider bandwidth that with my hearing (or lack thereof) is nice for music, but the mids, and highs, of cheaper phones seems more pronounced, and if there are nuances from metal detecting, I can hear them more clearly on the cheaper phones….

I took apart a set of $40 Sony phones that were popular with detectorists years back. and took out the elements and installed them in a set of Peltor 105’s, and never looked back….I can hear an ant fart with these phones !

Tesoro realized hearing issues and gave you a choice of high or low tone Vaquero detectors years back….I think it was the Vaquero…???…..It still saddens me to see them gone !
Tesoro could "install" a high tone in either the Vaquero or Cibola.---Took them about 15 minutes to do it--they've done it for me while I waited those few minutes.----Been to their small plant many times--and yes--it is sad to see them gone, their service was "top notch".----However, "time marches on"!

Thanks for that Del…….“the hurrier we go, the behinder we get”

Air tests aren't worth the time it takes to do them. I hunt in the dirt, not the air.
I agree air test are useless, but if you watch the video it will show the legend "is not" locking onto any one target, but instead is throwing out random numbers. it does not see all the coins, whereas the nox does, and the deus will also see all the coins (the deus is not in this video)
Having owned the Apex for about 3 months before selling it, I would rate the Legend 1 step above the Apex. At this point I am sorry I did not get the D2.

If you're watching Cala-Basher, or that Tenn guy, they produce the results the "company pays them to produc.e, Deus is an excellent machine by any standard, BUT tests can and ARE skewed. My opinion, you pay your money and take your chances. I have the Nox 800 (which now sets in my closet) and the Legend which I use constantly. Both are excellent machines but I find the tones, balance and light weight of the Legend suit me and my needs. This fall, I'll be running them both and make a final decision as to which one I'll keep.
I mostly watch Paystreak videos because he hunts mainly Parks and curb strips which is how I swing. He is a die hard butt boy for Deus but has been smitten with the Legend.

Air tests is 🍎 and 🍊
I will just say this and its just me,
First and foremost the detector you enjoy using and understand will find you the most.
I spent half the money or a third depending what you compare, for something that has the features I like and at this point i still haven’t run out of holes to dig.
Will spending two to three times the amount of money find you that one target maybe you or others missed? I suppose thats part of the thrill of spending more for something with comparable features.
The phrase “ the __ metal detector found stuff others missed “ has been repeated for years, and I suspect will continue every time a new detector is made.
To each his own, my point swing what you enjoy unless you are doing it for a living and and your paycheck depends on it.

Totally agree with your statement with one caveat: the last sentence IMO is what's wrong with Detectorists that are SHILLS!!

Remember that detector's "field of view" at maximum depth is actually much narrower and shorter than you thought?… Well, pretty much no one properly overlaps their swings, ever. So this old adage can be easily replaced with "Today's me found stuff yesterday's me missed" :twodetecting:

Very good point, im sure going back and overlapping thoroughly might turn up sone more stuff. And yes It wasn’t until you brought it to my attention my thought of the field of view was different
