2022 Silver Total

Well-known member
I understand my detecting season isn't over just yet, however I most likely won't be getting out too much more. This year I found quite a few 1800 and 1900's IH cents (which aren't shown) and I also found quite a few wheaties. (well over 200 of them) My nicest looking coin award goes to the 1916 Barber Dime. I also found my first ever 6 pence (1897) and my oldest seated dime dated 1847. I mainly hunt parks and the woods that surround them. I feel very fortunate to have found what I did knowing they have been hunted by others. It truly pays to go off the beaten path and hunt the woods around the parks. I have found some of my best finds of my detecting career in doing this. It's not pleasant with the heat and bugs, but when old coins pop out, it makes it all worth it. a little over 30 silvers (out of my 82 silver total) were found at an old playground area at a park. The silver consisted of barber, rosie and mercury dimes. I also found a ton of wheaties and IH cents at this playground area as well. One thing I also enjoyed finding were the old glass marbles found in the plugs when I was retrieving my coins. Thank you for looking and wish you all great luck!

Jimmy, that's one fantastic year of metal detecting, thanks for the pictures.
My favorite coin is your 1847 seated, that's a trophy find in my book.
Thank you. You are welcome. I was totally shocked to see the Seated Dime pop out. The park dates back to the 1920’s and have found mercs, Rosie’s and plenty of wheaties but never in my wildest dreams did I think I was going to pull a Seated Dime out of that plug. That’s the beauty of this hobby…just never know.

Well Jim, you had another fantastic year!!!
I just realized that 1916 Barber dime is the last year of mint on them.
That old playground sure paid off for you… I did not realize you found that many silver coins there along with the wheats and IH’s!!
You do not need the Manticore so forget about it….:nono:
And if you are still thinking about getting one, remember…. That is 15,990 Mercury dimes…🤭

😮😮 I’m not giving up 1 Mercury dime 😂🤣

Pretty good Jimmy! I only have 18 silvers for the year and unless we get rain and the crops are out I may be done! The ground is as hard as a rock! You did well! Keep at it!
Thanks Ted! Hope you receive some much needed rain. Then you can cultivate silver 😃

You are dedicated . I am not but still have fun .
Take care
Bob
