Minelab Manticore

Yes minelab is top dog with tones I agree it’s hard to get use to another brand,
Mark
Speaking of tones, I see the Manticore has Iron volume, this makes me wonder if volume is adjustable in each of the regions in 5 tone like the Equinox. I set bin 1 -9 thru 10 at 2 then bin 2 , 11-12-13 at 25 bin3 14 thru 17 at 18, then bin 4, 18 thru 25 at 21 then bin 5 back at 25. The midtones and high tones really jump out. I sure hope this feature will be available on the Manticore. By the way, still using the Field 2 settings that I got from you.

Someone was asking about where to order a Manticore from without pre-paying.....
I have no experience with this company.
Im sure there are other dealers, Im just simply passing this along:

I like to use my ears as target ID....
I agree but in fairness to those who don't get to hunt that often, having a (partial) visual representation is sure a huge help.

When I was regularly using the E-Trac I was very in touch with the sounds but still used (and GREATLY enjoyed) the 2D screen.
I'm looking to that 2D screen again, albeit it has changed. (e.g. more stable at depth, though I enjoyed the bouncing of deep targets!)

That’s it, the 2D screen, thanks for bringing that point to light. I too miss the display on the Explorer 2.
The one they show on the new NOX is a line for a coin or iron. That’s not the same to me.

With every new model that comes out I always wait a year or two. Because down the road there is always something that's flawed that has to be addressed. Once that's fixed then I purchase. That goes with everything I buy Electronics,Cars etc. Looking forward to hear the experience people will have with this Manticore....for now My NOX 800 will do

Oh my ! What the smart screen could show you ! Difference is day and night ! You must experience it to realize what you are missing !\
And talk about hunt by sound.....it is the best.
I don’t seem to have much of a choice as everything is going smart screen. Im getting used to it

I agree.
Id bet 50% of the new Manticore users will not use the 2D screen to its full ability, and simply beep and dig...
Nothing at all wrong with that, but they sure dont need a top of the line tool for that.
A Garrett Ace 250 would be just as effictive, and a lot less expensive, in those cirumstances.
The ones that choose to utilize the 2D screen, should in therory, be able to make an educated decision on a dig/no dig situation.
The shape on the screen alone, of the object in the ground will certainly be a game changer for all users.
The FE and F2 lines above and below should educate the relic hunters, before they make a dig decision.
Im sure it will take some hands on experience to be able to acurately read the information.
It probably wont happen instantly, and will take some persistance.
But Im thinking that if a person takes their time to get familiar with all the info its providing, its going to be a game changer.
A game changer at a more affordable price.

Thats the problem, no I wouldn’t utilize the 2d screen but basically everything else i would.
Sometimes you have to pay for more than you need just to get the features you want.
For example a perfect detector to me would be a something like a combination of a Tesoro Vaquero, sovereign gt and excalliber.that is light, waterproof, had the ability to choose different frequencies or use multiple frequencies at once and BT headphones and ground balance.
To my surprise when I started searching for a detector years later now something like that is finally available. Sound familiar?
There was the Apex(considered but nah for the money )
The Equinox ( too many leaking issues little expensive )
The Legend ( had everything, great price)
See how I ended up with what i have.
Still not crazy about a rechargeable internal battery but with the external option made that better.
You might only need a scooter to get to work but would you pay more to have features you want like a/c, heat, radio.
Doesn’t have to be a top of the line Lamborghini but if you can swing the extra for the features you want why not.
I think you might not be realizing not everyone thinks the same or has the same perspective, likes, needs, wants.
If i want a manticore to use as a beep and dig thats my prerogative why do you have a problem with that. But if i also wanted a Lamborghini just to drive to the mailbox thats also my prerogative.

As i said before though. When i first started to look for a detector to start hunting again the first thing i did was look for a Tesoro Vaquero. Thats when I sadly realized they were out of business and i had to look at other options.
It is still my favorite detector to date and deeply regret selling mine.
The saying you find the most with the detector you enjoy using the most I believe is very true. Its not so much the brand or model as long as its a capable detector for what and where you are using it.

I saw a Vaquero on sale for $425 right now on a famous online site!
