Thinking Manticore

I have lots of confidence in mine that I never had with my 800 and 900. They just never clicked with me.
The 2d screen and boosted power put me over the top on buying one. I knew ML had a great detector, but I am a visual type and this one additional piece of information to work with sounded great to me. I have not regretted my purchase other than being a little let down that the Carbon fiber lower had to be replaced as I found even without the gold fields it could be seen by the detector. I don't think it was affecting my detecting, but was annoying to have it periodically screetch at me....
I have found it to be intuitive to setup for the most part and if I had time to use it more I think it would be slamdunk easy to use....
I think it is hard to go wrong with the Manticore.
And the manufacturers are always going to be bringing out something new..... how long do you want to wait, and in the VLF world tI doubt here are rare "earth shattering" upgrades waiting to be made.... color screen here, more audio there, but the tweaks are going to relatively minor.
Now when they start producing well designed solid discrimination PI machines (thinking algoforce ++), might be time to rethink, until then I think the Manticore is going to perform at the top of the pack for a long time.

Meanwhile I am waiting for the Brown truck and watching You tube learning great things about the machine and what it can do. Hopefully by time it gets here I will be able to use it :)yeah

Me I bought a brand new CTX 3030 and I am not regretting it. I do wish there was a mid sized coil for it.

Best tip I can give you is not to n make any program changes until you use it for a while. The Manticore was set up to the best settings by the people who built it. Then maybe adjust you r audio to your preferences.
Exactly, I once owned a Whites V3i when it first came out, the most adjustable detector on the planet..... I immediately started trying to learn/adj. the myriad of settings (with it's non-existanat manual", and at one point I got it set up so well, it wouldn't detect a quarter laying on top of the ground  .... I learned my lesson! I thouroughly read the manticore manual multiple times and came to the same conclusion as you, it looks like each program is very well setup and can be used right out of the box with great effectiveness. I do think I am now at the point where I need to adjust my audio settings, but the rest, I think I will know when its time to start tweaking and that's not yet...
