I thought I would share some pictures of some abandoned mines near Ruby Arizona. Ruby is about 5 miles north of the Boarder.

The first is a mine called the Yellow Jacket, sorry I forgot to take my drone. The yellow Jacket is a patented claim, last worked in the 1990's and the equipment is left to decay. The other pictures are some old miners cabins in the area, the miners dry stacked rocks to make the walls, the guys were tough.

I've always been curious about the abandoned mines. My question is, why does not BLM, or Forest Service force the claim holders to clean up when they're finished? Is it because the claims are still active? I can't imagine any other reason for allowing the public lands to be trashed.

It may not be public lands, very well could be private owned land.

They should be required to clean up BLM and Forrest service land, as it belongs to the people. The mine site above is private land. At one time it was not. A patented claim, as the one above, required paper work to become private, the government stopped the practice in 1994.
Below is a mine site near Quatrzsite Arizona, it is a downright shame how the people left the area, I think this was 50 acres. I did a short video, but cannot upload to the site.
It is disgusting of what they did to the land, it will not recover in my lifetime.

Cool
Love those pictures.

Do any detecting or panning ?

Is the ore load gold or micro requiring leeching ?

I can't now.
Though I've always dreamed of poking around the country doing a little prospecting.

Jeff Williams seems to do quite well around old mines.
