First time out with CTX 3030

I just went for a quick one hour hunt. I wanted to make sure the battery in the wireless headset unit and the detector itself was charged. I have been to this elementary school many times with both Whites V3i and Garrett GTI 2500. I just used the stock coin program right out of the box. No...

    Got my CTX3030 Today

Just got the CTX3030. It came just as sun going down, won't be able to try it out until tomorrow. Coming from a Whites V3i. Hopefully not to much of a learning curve :clapping:

New to Garrett Forum, got a GTI2500

I had to sell my Whites last year due to wife's health issues. Saw a GTI2500 for a great price and decided to give it a try. When it drys up a bit I will go check it out. Anyone else on this forum that owns one have any pointers for this machine? I live in Nor Cal.

V3i is King of Tiny Targets...

I am amazed at the small targets as well. I pulled a clad dime from 8 inches last Thursday. I also pulled this small piece of foil at around 8 inches in the same lot. Hit solid. Was hoping for gold...

Anyway to clean these types of finds?

I went hunting in an old part of town. I actually didn't find anything but nails and such. However, I did find what appears to be an old safe deposit box key. I wish I found the box it went to! Anyway. As you can see its quite corroded from being in the ground. Is there anything I can do...

    could my machine need repair?

Well i brought my machine back to the dealer. He tested it out and didn't find anything out of the ordinary. Using his test garden my machine found a half dollar at 10 inches in the standard C&J program and my stock D2 coil. Since he couldn't replicate it. He sent me home with a loaner 5.3...

    could my machine need repair?

I have had my V3i for about 3 weeks now. It is acting really erratic. I am hunting in the same place I have been hunting for a while. Before it was somewhat quiet, and I knew when I hit a solid signal. The VDI would also be solid. Say a clad dime coming in at 74. Now with the same...

    Big green blotch no EMF.

I was detecting a park, I have detected before. I was playing around with the settings a little bit. As I was swinging. The VDI would go to like -93 + 94...etc. The polar plot would be a solid green circle. I know the EMF in the area is not bad. What helped in this instance was dropping my...

    V3i battery consumption

My stock battery pack starts at about 11.2V after I hunt for about an hour it drops to 10.28V and stays there for about 3 hours. Then it starts to drop off fast. I've had to change batteries out of my wireless headphones about 3 times in the month and a half I've had them. I detect almost...

    newbie question about target sound

I have a newbie question. Sometimes when I sweep (in C&J mode) I get a real faint high pitched hit. When I sweep over again its a loud grunt. Does this mean that there is something deep under the trash? I try to replicate the faint beep.. but after the first pass it just grunts every pass. I...

    Nice finds :)

    First Silver! Finally.

I have been metal detecting for about 2 months now. The weather prevented me from going out as often as I'd like. Today was a beautiful sunny day. So I hit my local park. Went to an area where the grass was not as well kept as the rest of the park. After a bit of clad and a lot of pull tabs...

    Rain and the V3

What about the wireless headphones? I worry that the battery compartment isn't as water proof as the V3 itself. Maybe switch to cheap wired headphones during rain?

    Same place more silver

That brings me to a question. I hear constantly how areas are hit hard by detectors. And yet they still produce old coins. Is this because the coins shift from say being on edge, to a more detectable angle? Or newer tech. Or do hundreds of people pass over that particular spot? I am sort...

Back to "Flowing Hair" Field for more oldies...
