    Very hard ground!

I would say a prospector’s pick is the way to go as somersault have mentioned. I have one I used in rivers with rocky bottoms and it works great at getting down to targets…. I can be used to pry rocks up too while you are digging.

Back from my annual beach trip....

I put in quite a bit mote time detecting than you too Mark…. About 5-6 hours each day over 4 days. During high tide I usually try up on the beach, then try lower as the tide works out. Even though there was not a lot on the beach, I found more there then at the surf line. I am still using my...

Back from my annual beach trip....

I just got back from Virginia Beach and the conditions were terrible Monday and Tuesday, but got better Wednesday and Thursday. Winds up to 30 mph made it tough to hear and detect, but I stuck it out and brought back a few coins. One morning I only found 2 quarters, but happened to search and...

Could be our next 'golden' find thaks to technology

I have been seeing commercials about those and wondered if anyone had been finding any yet… Being they are relatively light, I am thinking they will not sink too deep like gold?

Well, I'm back from the OBX beach week.... Theres many words I could use on how it went..

Sounds like you had a tough time Mark. No expert here, but I believe hard packed sand is actually a good sign as apposed to mushy sand. It means that not a lot of sand has shifted recently. I have experienced both conditions but move on when I start sinking down. I seem to have better luck in...

Does anyone here remember a guy named VA beach Max, or grave digger Max from another forum ??

I know who you are referring to and may run into him next week. I’ll be down his way next week to try my luck. He still detects, but is not on the forum anymore.

Why I wear boots in the water

I recall a few years ago while my brother in law was at Myrtle beach, he stepped on a hook that was attached to a rig with other hooks and one had about a foot long dead shark hooked to it. He had to go to prompt care to have the hook removed! I ran across a rig in the river recently that...

Think I Found The Old Home Place

Looks a Civil War era bullet…pistol bullet. Nice find!!

    Hunted a football field today.

Nice finds! The bullet looks to be a .52 caliber Sharps round (Civil War era). There are several variations with different sized cavities on the base, but some had solid bases. There may be more there two!

Old tag, any ideas on the symbol?

My guess would be a miner’s tag too

Got Out Twice This Week !

Nice finds there Mark! Starting to have some cool weather down my way too and after seeing these finds, I am ready to get back to detecting on land as I have been detecting lakes and a river lately with the high temperatures.
