    Copper medallion

I come by the Gabby name honestly (Gabriel). Added the Hayes cause he could pass as an old prospector.

    Exchange 2 Update

I'm getting google maps for development purposes only. Does the updated exchange fix this? If so do I need to save all my files associated with exchange 2 before I do the update? The mapping software still seems to work properly....just the annoying " for development purposes only" Somebody out...

    Copper medallion

Here was an interesting first find of the year. It has the ten commandments written on it. (Very very tiny)

    Exchange 2 Update

I haven't used exchange for a couple of years and when I launched it, it said there is an update available. I'm running version 1.8.7-1.1.10 It also said that I must uninstall this version before I can proceed with the update. I did a search here and didn't find any posts after 2012. If I...

    Coins Sinking

Thanx for the two links. Interesting read. I was sure that this topic has been discussed previously, and there are alot of theories out there for sure. I'll have to ask my cousin who has a PHd in geology what his theory is.:)

    Coins Sinking

Curious about what causes coins to sink? I suspect gravity does play a part, though eventually coins seem to stop sinking. Here in Canada with our cold winters frost pushes rocks to the surface. Just ask any farmer in my neck of the woods. Every spring the farmer must harvest a fresh crop of...

    Headphones

I've never owed a set of headphones designed specifically for metal detecting but out of curiosity I've been considering buying a set of killer B's. (Other than what has been supplied with the detector) My question is whether they actually improve on the audio? I get the comfort and the cord...

I've Finished Up All My aa Battery Test, and the Results Are In!, 'The Good' 'The Bad' and 'The Average'

Thanx for that info. Its in the ballpark of what I'd expect. I think headphones might decrease the drain by a small amount. Other than that I would agree that settings likely have very little effect on current consumption. Pinpointing might draw an extra ma. or 2 but that's just a guess.

I've Finished Up All My aa Battery Test, and the Results Are In!, 'The Good' 'The Bad' and 'The Average'

300 ma. is a very high drain for AA cells. Usually AA cells are used in devices that draw between 50 and 100ma. I'm not sure what my ATpro draws but I think I often get about 30-40hrs hunting time on a fresh set of alkalines. This takes into account that I usually only hunt for about 2 hrs. max...

I've Finished Up All My aa Battery Test, and the Results Are In!, 'The Good' 'The Bad' and 'The Average'

The current should have been just over 300ma. with a fresh set of batteries. According to ohms law I=E/R so 1.5/4.7 = .319

What was the drain on the batteries in your tests? Found it in your original thread....about 300ma.

    Frequencies........

99% of the time I operate in 3 frequency mode. I like to be able to see how each freq. responds to the target. It is a good indicator that way if it is junk or not.

Question on the spectragraph in practical use

Just another tool in the chest. It helps you determine if you have a good target or junk. Its value diminishes somewhat as the target gets deeper. Having said that, it is very accurate on shallow targets. The polar plot or the camel humps all help paint the picture. If you are hunting at the...
