    Coin Depth..

One of the best ways to find out is go out in your back yard, bury one and experiment. This will give you some idea, but it still won't tell you what you might experience in the field, because of all the variables already mentioned.

    V3i 9" coil

If those 2 coils are your only options I would spring 40 bucks and get both, however if you could talk him into a smaller coil like the 5.3 or something similar to complement the D2, you would have a much more rounded arsenal of coils.

Pot Pipe, Silver and a Buffalo to boot.

Trying to learn my new D2 coil today and I think it went rather well. The Jefferson is 1941, the buffalo is 1930 and the quarter is 1947 all found within 6 inches of each other at 5 inches deep. The pipe was a few feet away. The site has been hunted heavily through the years but is very...

    D2 First Impressions

I may change my mind about the D2 not being my "go to" coil. Used it for about an hour and a half today at the same park. Found several lincolns among trash and then within 6 inches of each other a 1941 Jefferson nickel, a 1930 Buffalo and a 1947 silver Washington quarter. Also found an...

    D2 First Impressions

I haven't hunted the park in Palestine but it is on my radar. I like the D2 so far, but I don't think it will be my "go to" coil. Most of my sites are just to trashy. I am not familiar with it enough to determine the size of the target yet. Like Blind Squirrel, I have dug a ton of deep cans...

    Coil Compatability

I am thinking of buying a second detector as a backup. Will my v rated coils work with other Whites detectors?

    D2 First Impressions

Thanks. I have the 5.3 which I really like and have had good success with but the 4x6 will probably be my next coil.

    D2 First Impressions

Finally got to take the D2 for a walk in the park today for about an hour. I have had it for about 4 months and just now got to try it out. In all the years of detecting I have never owned a dd. I took it to an area that I have hunted numerous times with many different detectors and I was...

    Exciting Place to Hunt

Still need a partner? Sounds like a great spot.

    V3i possible problems

I had a very similar problem with my VX3, which I bought used. Sent it to White's. Turned out to be the 950 coil. They checked and calibrated the unit and sent it back with a brand new coil. Works great, and they did not charge me a single dime. I hope the same for you.

    :twodetecting:FIRST 15 MIN !!:usaflag:

I have always been told to do what works best for you. You should have got in your car, drove around the block, came back, and tried that again. Sounds like you have a favorite new spot to hunt. Congratulations.

    Last 3 Hunts...

Thanks for sharing your hunt with us. Those teardowns can be really tricky. What coil do you usually use on a trashy site like that?

Gold Coin VDI'S & Dominant Frequency...

Thanks. I wonder how many gold coins and rings have been detected and left in the ground because someone didn't want to dig another pull tab.

Gold Coin VDI'S & Dominant Frequency...

Thanks for the info. I have a stupid question. Gold is gold, no matter how big the coin is, right? So what accounts for the variation in frequencies? Are the coins made from different alloys or does their size determine which frequency they will respond to best. My only gold coins so far...

Just wondering? About the iffy signals.

I am the same way. Sometimes I am just too tired or the ground is just too hard to dig a particular signal. I think there will always be iffy signals no matter what machine you are using. The advantage of the V series is that you can see the live target response of all three frequencies at...
