    Holed Coin

Was visiting my daughter in Richmond VA, checking out her yard, and found many wheat pennies and clad coins. The best finds were an Indian Head and my first ever 2 cent piece. The 2 cent coin has a small hole in it that unfortunately has obscured the date, although I swear I see a "65" at the...

    My first really old coin

Yesterday I was able to detect on an 1830's farm. I found some cool buttons, buckles, and horse tack, but my best find was a large Cent. This is the oldest coin I have found so far, unfortunately, its in pretty rough shape. The pictures from my phone aren't very good, but I can clearly see "One...

I found an example of Peters League shot shell that were supposed to be 1890 to about 1915. I feel pretty sure they are from that...

    5-11 Finds

    Strange Backyard find

I have found several wheat pennies , 1904, 1912,1913 being the oldest. I also found a civil war era Marine Corp cuff button. I am just west of Harrisburg PA. in June of 1863, there was a large encampment of Union soldiers about a mile from my house, defending the Capital. The entire area was no...

    Strange Backyard find

I live in a Victorian style home, built in 1904. Every time I detect on my property I find something unusual. The other day I was hunting along a hedge row between my ,and a neighbors property , and found two heavy plates, possibly lead, about 3x6 inches. They were in the same hole, about 6...

    Buckle ID?

Thanks. I can see that. I found it about 50 feet from a Civil war era Marine corp button and was curious if it was of the same era.
