Open battery compartment on a Tesoro Silver Sabre detector

Hey, THANK YOU for the great info and photos! It looks like that's a 9 volt system, so why wouldn't a 9 volt battery work in place of the 6 aa cells?

Open battery compartment on a Tesoro Silver Sabre detector

I gave my daughter a Tesoro Silver Sabre detector many years ago, and she traded it back to me a couple of days ago for a newer detector that works - at my request. I'm trying to keep her interested in the hobby, but she's having a ball with her new magnet fishing craze. Anyway, the Silver Sabre...

The danger of selling metal detectors on Ebay

Just in case some of the members of this site are not aware of the cunning fraud that some buyers out there have been using for years to defraud the sellers of metal detectors on Ebay, forewarned is forearmed. Admittedly, it's probably only a very few crooked people doing this, but it does...

Minelab F-3 - designed for detecting land mines

Understood. It seems strange that a Minelab PI detector would only have a 1.25 KHz frequency. Maybe better for silver. Someone has one like new for sale on Craigslist, but it wouldn't fit my needs. Designed for military for sure. Thanks for the heads up.

Minelab F-3 - designed for detecting land mines

I'm curious if the Minelab F-3 can be used effectively for the hobbyist also, and if so, for coins and jewelry, or gold?

    Whites Eagle II SL 90

I Just acquired an old Whites Eagle II SL, and apparently there are a few different versions. How do I ascertain which model mine is? By the serial number?

    The Whites XLT Spectrum tune

I just tried it on my later model XLT, and it didn't work. Apparently it only works on the earlier ones.

    The Whites XLT Spectrum tune

Hey, there's a popular bar/restaurant (Beanery) called Fredneck's right down the street a couple of doors from my place, and they serve great food. Looks like an old west joint. This is in Rockford, Washington, below Spokane. Any connection?

    The Whites XLT Spectrum tune

Is there anyone in this Forum that knows or remembers how to program the Whites XLT to play the tune "It don't mean a thing if you ain't got that swing"? I used to know how how 20 years ago, but forgot.

    Man drowns while metal detecting

I'm wondering if it was the exceptionally cold water that took his life. The 10 foot depth is dangerous. Water Skiers that fall must be pulled out of the water within a couple of minutes, or the icy water can kill. I once saw a large buck standing upright in about 10 feet of water next to a...

Vintage Compass detector coil cross reference

Does anyone know if there are any coils that can be substituted for the Compass Gold Scanner Pro coils?
  13. T

I have a question for those who are very familiar with the original Lobo, and the LST.

I am curious about the difference in coils for these detectors. For instance, it appears that the coil connectors are the same. Has anyone here ever tried to connect a LST coil up to an original Lobo? Do they make any particular sound that would indicate using the wrong coil? I am confronted...
