High numbers with small coil.

I put the small coil on today and went into an area I’ve been getting older coins. When running the 11” I would get an occasional 59-60 which I’ve come to recognize as probable halo or deep larger iron. If running in G mode I can often get those low 3-8 iron grunts and know its halo or falsing. The couple times I’ve dug 59-60 signals its turned out to be square nails or the old square nuts.
Now, I’m running in 4khz and if I switch over to M1or M2 the high numbers remain clear and the low grunts seem to disappear. Those stronger signals I have dug end up being nothing and resweep shows no more signal.
Today I had a high signal with a bouncy mid 20s back sweep and it ended up being an old V nickel. Later similar high hit with higher 40s signal which was a rather large horse shoe nail.
Do you guys dig the clear high 59-60 numbers or pass on them generally? I know the high 90s numbers on the F75 are always iron related (so far) and wondering if this is the same.

Not sure if the small coil follows suit but with the 11" coil I will dig a solid clear 59 or 60 in any frequency but 4khz. I've had some good objects that came up at that extreme although the good is outnumbered by the bad. In some of the older parks the big brass sprinkler heads will give you a solid 60 but a quick check with a probe allows you to move on without much delay. I seldom hunt relics , different world.

Hey Ron-----Patsy & I have both been running our Legends with the 6" coils (exclusively).-----We've been hunting in Park---FMF---M1---reactivity 8---yeah, 8 :)---sens. 90-95 (for the most part) (old gold camps & an old fairground).-----The 59-60 readings (for us) has almost always ended up being iron/iron "wrap around"

I agree. Odd sounding/weak 59-60 is falsing/wrap. I have found that a weak but clean 11 often is a good non ferrous target that is on the edge of detection. The Legend can't quite ID it so it defaults to 11. A strong 11 is foil. Switch to 4 kHz and it often disappears. A real target will still sound in 4.

Weird part is these high hits are mainly in this one confined area where the old coins and now this big horseshoe nail was found. I just hate it when you feel like you should probably dig but I now have several small round plug rings and fear the Parks people might pull the plug on digging. Alternative is to come back once the turf reseals and selectively dig the better high hits.

Try locating and sizing with your pinpointer.
With my carrot on 2 or 3 setting.
I can see down to six inches on 3.
And getting a very slow beep says coin sized.
If I get faster beep. Even lifting the pointer an inch or two. Says big target.
Try it.

I also have noted that when using the pinpoint on the detector that if its a very small spot its usually a small object such as a coin or ring or other small object. I did get a nice quarter signal the other day that pinpoint was telling me was about a square foot in size, outside edges were aluminum numbers so thinking smashed can of similar.

My last V nickel came in at a solid 27……no wavering….solid 27…..V nickels are always a nice find

Silver dollars can get big. I dig those big aluminum's anymore. After a friend followed me and found one.
