I am hoping Garrett is getting ready to bring out a good SMF that competes with the likes of the Legend (which I am not happy with), Equinox 800 and 900, and maybe even the Manticore, for me personally it does not even have to compete with the Manticore just with the Legend and all the nox line will be good enough for me as, if even better than those other detectors all the better, I will be purchasing one and ditching the other SMF I currently own, I am ready to only use Garrett products only, but I do not want something that looks like the At Pro either if that happens I will not be purchasing.

I know the beach hunters are hoping for something but me personally I do not detect beach's

Has me a little concerned as getting back into detecting the Ledgend was one of a few I was considering - just a little considering.
Curious why your not happy with the Ledgend....

I had one for 4-5 months , I found some nice stuff with it . The only thing I didn’t like at the time was no smaller coils were available at the time. Now they are available. Navigating the controls were a little tricky.

@Tony-Ok as far as the Legend its a good detector, the issues i had was created by Nokta when they released 1.11 to us all without updating the CP210x drivers, i reported the issues to nokta the very day the 1.11 was released to all of us and nokta pretty much blew me off emails i sent went UN replied to, phone calls i made to the U.S repair center leaving messages went without receiving a return call, my issues are resolved now but it dam sure was not nokta that helped to resolve those issues, had it not been for a legend user in Europe figuring out what the issue was because he was having the same issues as I did, i am not sure my issues would have been resolved so yes all that left one huge after taste in my mouth, it is not the legend per say that I am UN happy with it is the Nokta Company in general and their lack of caring that there was issues

and you are probably saying why did he not send his legend in and let them look at it , I did offer to send it in to them again my emails and phone calls went UN responded to for 5 months, so tell me if all that had happened to you would you be happy with a company that did not care.

as far as the Legend it is a good detector but if you do purchase one make sure it is a new generation Legend that comes with the Carbon Fiber Middle shaft and the LG30 coil as well as at the very least 1.11 installed from the factory otherwise you may end up with issues just like a few of us ended up with,I can tell you how to avert issues now using a Windows 10 or 11 PC and its pretty simple, and the issues that were seen by some of us updating to 1.11 was mainly people that used a windows 10 or windows 11 PC

Thanks for the response. Although I was looking at the Ledgend, your information got me looking deeper into it and now see others experiencing the same.
Shame how the software/update did not work out well for many and then the support issue etc.
For now I'll scratch off the Ledgend from my consideration list until things smooth out, and dig deeper on other detectors I'm looking at.
Glad I can't plug in my ol Tesoro and bung things up - Thanks again!

I am not trying to change anyone's mind on the Legend, I just figure I have a duty to let people know that there were some of us that had issues after we updated to 1.11 and Nokta never even attempted to help resolve the issues, but why should they help resolve an issue when the number of legends sold that had no issues far exceeds the number of Legends that had issues.

prior to the issues I seen I absolutely would have told anyone to purchase a Legend, and I still feel that way, i just do not feel the same way about Nokta, and I do not believe anyone would have liked being totally ignored by a company on a detector they were having issues with either

there are people out there that, brow beat the hell out of us that were having issues, and so yes it has made me to want to find a different brand to start using, I am still a big fan of the Legend just no longer a fan of the Company, and do not take me wrong I am not a fan of the greedy Mine Lab company either LOL

Yes , that would be a problem, and sending in a unit , when they can resolve the issue through an update is why they have updates! Not responding to your emails , well that is bad …… they should have sent you a free smaller coil for your troubles. I don’t own a Nokta product right now but I probably will in the future.🇺🇸😃🇺🇸

Hello tab-nabit: I just bought a new legend. all new with fiber shafts. lg30 coil. Ive got about 4 hours on it. Found a small gold religious metal at a park close to my house. I really like the legend. so for everything seems to work as it should. Ive been swinging an xp orx one pound 14 oz, so the legend seems a little heavy, but not that bad. will be getting a lg 24 coil which will make the legend some what lighter.

Thanks for your info jimmy clark - yes I have also read many who love the Ledgend as well as a few with some software update issues etc.
I'm bouncing a few detectors up & down the list as I read on, now started looking at some you tube videos.
I've been out of the game for some years due to medical issues keeping me from detecting now recovered well enough to get back into the game.
I like a simplistic detector but also like those that have a load of features for those times I feel like something different.
What I don't have yet is a detector that can take a shower in the rain - now that we are in the rain season, some of the appointments I take the wife to I'll go to a nearby park or something until she sends me a text when she is done. I'm getting tired of sitting in the SUV anywhere from half hour to a couple hours so I might as well get a detector to go play in the rain. I can grab my shower cap, err I mean my rain gear and give it a go and found Nokta (all new to me) as well as a few others that can play in the rain with me no worries.
I'm looking as the current detectors I have I don't have to want to bag one just because of the rain and don't want to chance what I already have. Besides I now find Tesoro and Whites are no more but also what's out and available now is also interesting and I don't mind a new toy to get me back in the game in the rain.
North/Central California we are now getting pounded with rain for days again - this is what got me going about all this.
I used to fish in the rain a lot - sometimes in storms I got my spot all to myself. Those that seen me maybe thought that dumb fool, but then many times it was worth it to me.
I might add a couple detectors - why not!

Hi John, How is everything going in your neck of the woods? Nice to see your post, been a while since I’ve seen one.

...i just do not feel the same way about Nokta, and I do not believe anyone would have liked being totally ignored by a company on a detector they were having issues with either

Yet, in comparison, Garrett is widely regarded as having the best customer service in the industry. I did something stupid with my brand new Apex - I was hunting on the beach and dropped it in seawater. Of course, that was the end of it. So I called Garrett hoping that I could just buy another motherboard, as everything else was fine, and why throw out perfectly good stuff? Anyway, they replaced it. They didn't have to - it was purely my fault and they had no responsibility. If I were them I would have said "tough doo doo". Luckily, I'm not them. They now have a customer for life in me.

BTW, I love my Apex, and I don't at all understand why it doesn't get the respect I think it deserves from the larger MD community.

Along those lines, I've been waiting with bated breath for nearly 2 years for Garrett to release something new (other than the Axiom, which doesn't appeal to me because I'm not a goldfields hunter). I finally got impatient and bought the Deus II, and I must say, I'm not gelling with it yet. So far, I haven't found anything with the Deus that I couldn't find with the Apex, and the Apex seems better in high EMI situations. The Deus II is half the weight of the Apex which does make it a pleasure to swing. If the Storm turns out to be suited to my kind of hunting, I will definitely be buying it.
