Killer permission multi silver spills! Barber quarter Washington

Mark kus

Well-known member
This past week I had a river hunt which was slow but managed to find two barber dimes a 1906 and 1899.
Today I had a turn of the century old farm house next door to where my brother lives he actually asked Jim the owner for me and he was nice enough to let me I just scratched the surface at this permission about 11/2 hour hunt the first signal was a 91 on my D2 so I cut the plug no not in the hole not in the plug a surface mercury dime in the grass on top!
That was strange so the next signal was a deep 94 faint high tone I knew another silver by now my brother Steve came over I said I have a good one it was a 5 silver spill 2 mercury dimes then a Washington then when I stuck my pointer back in two more silver Rosie’s ! Wow I could not believe it been a while since I’ve had a good silver spill as I was detecting up along the house a nice 91 I looked down in the garden another mercury dime on the surface!
My luck continued with a clad dollar coin along the sidewalk and as I headed back out into the front yard another nice 92-93 on the D2 a 1916 D barber quarter and a mercury dime 9 silver in such a short time I also found the escutcheon furniture piece and the small shield type medal a bunch of wheat pennies and the token The brass whistle which works great was also found on the beach I offered any of my finds to Jim the owner but he said no you keep them!
He gave me permission yo come back lots of iron here but the D2 works great I’ll definitely swing the manticore here also thanks for looking

Congrat's to you on a very nice hunt. Lot's of silver. The piece you have in the shape of a shield may be a saddle shield from off of a saddle. Very cool. Continued Success to you at this site.

I'm surprised you found silvers on the surface. They are hard to come by these days. Great hunt!
Thanks guys I can’t wait to go back Yes I know one was in a garden probably dug up I supposed I actually thought it was a clad dime!!!

Great permission! Always nice to see a barber quarter.
Looks like your barber dimes have some detail
Dave
Thanks Dave Yep those barber fumes were on my silver river spot on the beach area where I have not detected much I will now lol the rest were in the old farm house yard using my D2 it’s very good ID and tones make it easy especially in lots of iron .

Finding silver in dirt is such a joy. They come out just like when they were first dropped.

You really have some great locations to hunt up in New England. Lots of really old, inhabited sites.

At the rate you are going, I think I see a tree coin in your future !!!! Virgin site, never been hunted, loaded with silver !!!

Go get it !!!!

yep I knew this house had some old coins in the yard to see 5 silvers in one spot got me thinking never been hunted!
That's an amazing hunt ,,,
I guess asking if you're gonna go back is a stupid question, huh,,,
😁
Oh yeah I asked he said sure I want to spend more time in the front and sides.

Nice haul on the silver !! The shield actually is the bottom latch of a Carpet Bag lock. Here's one I dug complete, and hopefully you'll find the lock, it could date mid 1800's.

Wow what a silver score Mark. Ya gotta love it when coins keep coming out of the hole, particularly silver ones. I've been lucky with silver spills over the years and my biggest was 5 in the same hole. Sounds like that place may have a lot to offer, good luck on your return
