Manticore w/ 9in. coil depth.

Watched the latest episode of the Hoover Boys last evening. Anybody that has depth concerns about the 9in. coil might want to watch. He hits a capped bust half at a good 13-14 inches down. He didn't mention anything about recovery speed but from how tight the signal was it didn't seem to be too low. Some good stuff for you deep diggers.

That M9 is a fine coil on the Manticore.----Nipping at the heels of the M11 for depth--very close.----Only about 1 inch difference between those two coils in my soil.

You nailed it perfectly. It reminds me so much of the performance of the 8x6 sef but even deeper. If you could only own one coil, this would be my choice. JJ

These were from my first time out with my new Manticore using Goldfield mode and the little M8 coil. Walked just a short distance up a small wash and hit some targets on the side- a couple little ones weighing in at .057g and .080g. They were about 4 inches deep, even with the M8. This is a fun detector, I can find tiny stuff, and I have a lot more to learn about using it also!

That's impressive.

I'm not sure people realize that when you change coils you change the targets you detect and dig. During Winter in west coast Florida when targets disappear from the beach, I sometimes change from my usual M15 Manticore coil to my M8 in order to search different (tight) areas near walkways and different structures and look for fine chains along the blanket line that are missed by larger coils (and by Detectorists swinging too fast and walking their normal stride). Trick is to swing slow and not be in a hurry. Its like hunting a different beach and searching for different gold.
