    Great Morning With the Trac

Last night I layed in bed figuring out where I would hunt this am. I decided on my "old stand bye" spot. This spot hosted a Christmas lighting display that was just taken down. I decided to hunt where the displays stood. In the first hour I found three coins and all were deep wheats(8-10 inches...

    Coinstar finds today....

Felix, you must have used the 6 inch coil to get in close to the reject slot. . I embarrass my wife at the local grocery store coin star. I also check pop machine coin returns. Pay phones use to pay off big, but cell phones eliminated that source. Die hard coin hunters will do just about...

Picked up 1000 wheaties in a bank sack, talk to the old timers at the coffee shop

Nice score. There should be a couple of more valuable ones in the mix. Last winter I was cleaning out the storage cabinets out in my garage and found a quart Ragu Sauce jar crammed full of wheats. I have yet to go through them. I wish it had been a jar of silver, but no such luck.

    Excellent D2 performance!!

Tony, great post. I also believe that the CZ's were as deep as any detector made, even with an 8 inch concentric coil. You made a great point that when coins are 8 inches deep or more, the 8 inch coil is only seeing a inch or so at that depth, making it easy to miss many coins even if...

    Deepest coins or jewelry?

I have routinely been finding 8-9 inch deep wheat pennies at my hard hit spots. Park, recovery 4, iron bias 4, and sensitivity 26. I find more deep nickels with this detector than any detector I have used. I have not used the 6 inch coil yet.

    Wireless Headphones For Etrac

I bought a Z lynk kit and used it for the first time today with my Gray Ghost Platinum headphones. Worked perfectly except for my digging routine. A person has to remember that there is no cord attatched to the detector. Wireless is truly the way to go.

    13 inch Indian penny

Way to go Elmy. I have tried the latest and greatest, but a detector with the Etrac's abilities is hard to set down. Hope you are feeling better. Yesterday and today in northeast Ohio are perfect detecting days. The next month should have some great weather for you.

    Thanks for the input.

    Wireless Headphones For Etrac

I am checking to see if anyone is using wireless headphones with the Etrac. I have been spoiled using them on my other detectors. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

    When it all began 1867-69

Cedar, was Iowa a wrestling powerhouse in 1972? At any rate, it is truly impressive to have a wrestling scholarship to any Big 10 school. One old timer showed me a cigar box full of silver from a local dance hall, skating rink, and ball field that dated to early 1900's. Over the years I have...

    Some finds from yesterday...

Felix, the silver coins are in fantastic condition. Don't give up on that spot!

    Can a detector be supercharged???

Many years ago I sent a Compass Coin Scanner back to the factory have it "juiced up". Again this was done by a factory tech and I was told to expect 1 to 2 inches of additional depth. I can't say I could see any difference, but I sure wish I still had that detector. I think I paid about 90 bucks...

    Loretone Rock Tumbler

Felix, my first three or four years of detecting was all about finding coins. I was a clad hunter. I worked for the local school system and had exclusive access to the fenced and gated football stadium. I can remember days of finding over 150 coins in two hours. I keep journals but was not real...

    Loretone Rock Tumbler

I have been using this Loretone tumbler to clean my clad coins for 26 years. The model I have is a dual tub. I estimate that I have cleaned close to 100,00 coins with this model without even changing a belt. Every year I tell myself to buy some spare belts, but I always forget. In the first...

    Flying "HIGH" on 4kHz!

George, well done. How does 4kHz handle modern trash? Is it accurate on the tones and numbers? I look forward to your future hunts.

Which is todays best larger coil for the V3i?

I had the SEF 10x12 on both the DFX and V3i and it was a great coil. It was as light as the stock coil on the V3i and in my opinion added depth and separation over the stock 10 inch coil. I had this coil on the DFX and MX5 and if I still had a Whites detector, this would be the coil I would use...

    Legend Observations

No, I did not know this. I will give it a try. I watched several youtube videos on 1.09 version and I did not see this. Thanks!

    Legend Observations

Mark, the Etrac was fixed by the Minelab repair center and I should have it in the next day or so. It was the mother board and was fixed with used parts. I am hoping that it will last as long as I am physically able to detect. The repair techs really do a nice job. A new mother board is 649.00...

    Legend Observations

It is winter in northeast Ohio and besides the cold weather I have been dealing with a bad knee. Today, between rains, I took my Legend version 1.09 to my side yard. In the last couple of years I have found about 20 wheat pennies in a 12 foot by 12 foot area and all were 8 plus inches deep. The...
