Past few weeks at the new spot

Getting cold up here in Massachusetts the past week. The ground in the woods is staying nice and loose and frost free. Been using my 6inch DD HF coil and a borrowed 15inch DD MF coil the past few weeks. Machine is mostly set at 25-28 Sens, Tracking on and in Disc 1. Been pulling out quite a few...

    A decent 2 cent piece

Have found a couple 1865 2 cent pieces over the past 10 years but they were really in bad crusty condition. Found this 1864 last Thursday. It was not that deep, bout 2 inches. There was an old rotted log falling apart on top of it protecting it I guess. Soaked it in olive oil over the weekend...

A few more finds from day 3 at the new spot

Day 2 produced nothing but a handful of clad dating from the 50's to the early 90's. Day was better. Found 3 crusty Indians, I never find nice clean Indian heads. Have dug at least 100 and not a great one in the bunch!! Always starting to rot or lots of rot. Wheaties in my opinion seem to be in...

    A couple new finds today

First Barber Quarter!!! I was siked! She's a beauty too! Lots of detail and very minor wear! Had the 705 with 9 inch LF coil, Tracking, Disc 1 pattern, Sens at 27. Finally got the nerve to ask permission to cut thru someones yard to detect a large area of woods with a lot of old walking/cart...

    Old Time Religion!

Been not finding much the past month because I have done much hunting. To darn hot and wicked humid up he in Mass. Found my first shield nickel a few weeks back. Really bad condition. The date seems to be 1883. Hope soaking in olive oil for a while will make it a little more readable. Found the...

A couple finds this past week

A piece of gold plated jewelry. About the size of a quarter. Not sure what it is. Seems like it was some kind of pin at one time. No markings. Any thoughts gang? Was about 3-4 inches deep. Using the 705 with stock coil, sens 27 with Tracking on. Rang up in the 22-24 range. Next is what I think...

I love Fall hunting!! Some of my better finds.

Went to quit a few newer places this year and some I have detected before. A few of my nice finds since mid Oct and this past week. Found what I believe is a very worn 177? King George Half Cent. Was able to make out the III and part of the head on coin. Surprise coin was the 3 cent nickel...
