    I went with our club the other day to a park with the nine inch coil. There was a couple of areas the guys with the bigger coils was staying away from as it had a lot of Junk in it. But I went in that area and pulled several coils out of it. I think there might be more in there but I will go...

    Nine inch coil works for me and gets plenty of depth. Separates great in trashy areas. I know a friend of mine he goes out with some of the silver hunters with the Minelabs 11 inch coil and he hears everything they hear, and sometimes identifys it where they can not.

    Yes the 8 inch coil is great for water hunting. I just wish I could find another 8 inch coil

    Minelab Excalibur 800 purchased 1998. Since I bought it I have found 100's of pieces of Gold with it's Tone id. I often try and guess ( is it a pull tab, nickle or a Gold). After a while I could tell the difference with the tone only :)

    I have had a few favorites. Minelab Excalibur 800 is my favorite metal detector. Great for hunting in the water . Just would like to find another 8 inch coil for it. Also the Minelab E-trac for land hunting. Fisher cz 6 was a nice machine too. Whites with the big foot coil was nice in it's day.

    Coin tumbling question…

    I always use 1/8" Stainless Steel Ballcone Tumbling Media Shot Jewelers Tumbler Finishing , vinegar to the top of the coins and a dash of salt. Tumble for 45 minutes to a hour and the red or pink is gone :) Yeah
