    Deus-1 vs Deus-2

Ism, you would think the single frequency in the D2 would be as good as the single frequency in the D1. However in my opinion, if you bought a D2, then don't even bother worrying about single frequency test results. The D2 is of course a multifrequency machine and outperforms the D1 in just...

    Ghost signals

Those repeatable 35s for me are always a piece of graphite. I'll just notch it out when it becomes a nusance. In your case, I agreewith Coin Rescue, if you are wet hunting pasture, likely just a mineralization blip.

What is the Best WAY to determine depth with the Deus 2

Of course all we can really get from a detector is an approximation of depth....and there are many factors that go into that calculation such as signal strength, target size or orientation, etc. I use Audio Response at 3 or 4 to give me an indication of target depth. It's not an accurate...

    Unique Gilted button 76

Nice digs there Coinworld. I don't believe I've ever dug a button with that back mark. I see the "bust" image but I think that is just a wear pattern. Cool find though.

    Learning curve

I went from a White's DFX to a Deus I and found the Deus to be MUCH more intuitive. For me the learning curve was easy. The D2 has excellent stock programs for just about all hunting conditions. I love to play with program settings but with the D2, I just mostly tweak the Reactivity speed to...

Need help with settings for seeded hunts using the Deus 2

If targets are going to be that shallow, go with a Reactivity of 3.....or even 4 if it a trashy site. Notch the heck out of it too if it is just coins.

Why so many people dumping the Deus 2

LT, I think another reason to upgrade from the D1 to the D2 is efficiency. With the D1, when I got the High Frequency coil, I was amazed at what my LF coils had left behind. The reverse is true also. The LF coils would certainly hit better on those deep high conductors than the HF. With the D2...

Why so many people dumping the Deus 2

Hey Charlives......yes you can run the D2 in single frequency like the D1. I wouldn't say you can run it exactly like the D1....but pretty close. But I agree, if you don't want the advantage of the multifrequency, you might as well stick with the D1. Both machines are proven winners in my book.

Why so many people dumping the Deus 2

I hadn't noticed a glut of used machines.....but I haven't been looking either. The control box/stem issue was annoying. I put some silicone kitchen and bath type caulking on the outer side of the little plastic stem brackets just to stiffen it up a bit and it worked like a charm. I still use...

PULLED THE TRIGGER ON A D2

Etrac was a fine machine but you are making a major upgrade in technology and ergonomics with the Deus 2. I think you will be pleased.

Settings for Deus 2 Relic Hunting

I haven't quite settled on my colonial site settings yet. Mostly modified versions of Fast, and Deep HC. But Park really surprised me recently at a worn out site and I haven't yet quite figured out why it sniffed out a few keepers.....including a couple of pewter buttons which is of interest if...

Deepest program for XP deus 2

In clean ground with mild soil, Relic mode with Reactivity at 0.5 or 1 is DEEP. But you do have to swing slow. I've tried Reactivity of 0 but it tends to give a bit too much ground feedback. If you get into iron you definitely have to raise the Reactivity and the IAR.

    swing speed

Personally, I haven't noticed any difference between the two units regarding the optimum Reactivity settings. But I have only used the 9" coil on the D2. With either machine or any sized coil, you set it for your conditions. I think generally speaking you tend to use slower Reactivity settings...

Love the technology, not the furniture.

With the D1 I never had the controller on the shaft because I knew the audio so well. I used the arm band and usually only looked at it to switch between programs. Not there with the D2 yet so I do put the controller on the shaft. I did find the chaffing on the base of my thumb annoying so I do...

    Last couple of hunts D2

Oh man, that is a SWEET Liberty Cap you got there Todd. Certainly one of the best ones that I have seen come out of the ground.

    Back of remote peeling off

I think if there was a wobble with the controller mount, all that dust acted like sandpaper. Still, I would expect it to hold up better than that. Hopefully XP would agree.

    Can I get a Witness?

I can tell you for a fact that the D1 armband will work with the D2 controller. I use it all the time. It's a tight fit but it works.

    My 2 Cents

Glad to hear you are getting along with your D2 Buckeeeee. Yeah I heard about how hard the Deus was to learn when I got the D1. It really wasn't. I found it very intuitive. D2 came easy too but of course I'm still learning it's ins and outs. It's ergonimics are unmatched. The older you get, the...

    Iron falsing

I hear you Targits. Deep big iron sounded good on the D1 as well. I think all machines get called out on those types of targets.

    Iron falsing

I get your point and I have some nice iron relics, but I no longer want to dig 250 deep bent crusty nails to get 1 colonial era 2-pronged iron fork. ;)
