A KG II, a CT copper, and a very interesting button with a silver emblem

I went back to the farm field I've been working. Found a King George II (maybe 1750) a Connecticut copper (about 1787), a nice buckle, a sterling silver cuff link, couple of buttons, and a very interesting looking rosette perhaps with some silver emblem on it. anyone have any ideas if it means...

3500-5000 Year old copper adz recovered

I normally stay hidden in the dark recesses of the CTX forum, but due to the kind of find it is I thought it may be worth sharing with the bigger findmall community. Since my original posting a couple days ago Vassar and New York State archeologists have confirmed the find, with one calling it...

A Shield Nickel, A Nova Caesarea, and an Auctori Connec

Hello Folks It was a beautiful morning here in the Hudson Valley. The skies were clear, the air was cool, and the fields, the fields have been cut! Seriously can it get any better? Why yes it can. For some time now I have been trying to detect the field across from the mid to early 1700's farm...

    Copper axe head

I was out detecting one of my favorite haunts and recovered this. To me it appears to be an axe head. Images I found online appear similar to this. What do you think? Depth was about 8 inches

    Buckles, Buttons, and more

Visited a couple of old farms yesterday. The first one is a beautiful 1765 farm house that proved to be amazingly quite, but I had only talked to the owner about detecting certain parts of the large yard so I will have to go back get permission and try some different areas next time. I did find...

Now I know what it feels like to swing 17 inches around

I haven't been able to get out too much since I received the 17 inch coil. But I made it out for a couple hours this morning. The grass was high in the fields but I think mainly due to the sheer weight of the coil I was able to swing through it. I found a couple parts of buckles and an...

Selling my six inch and going for the seventeen

It didn't make sense for me to hold on to the sixer. I primarily hunt open wooded areas and fields so, the more I can cover the better. I had the large coil for the Etrac and did well with it, so I am hoping for great results with this one.

Any idea? It isn't what I first thought, is it ?

About six inches long and tapered to a smooth point. Hollow inside and made of aluminum perhaps.

A productive hunt, civil war era token

I made it out this evening and had a productive hunt. I was thinking about what Larry had mentioned about all the other items we have to recover in order to come up with a couple of special ones and so I have included a picture of pretty much the finds in total. Most of the those not so special...

1766 George III Half penny, amazing 247 years old..

I often picture who was the last person to hold this coin, and how it ended up where it was all those years ago.. Found in the middle of a field. This coin is an Irish copper halfpenny issued in 1766 by George III, or so the website said that I found it on...

Another beautiful 1929 Standing Liberty quarter

While out detecting this evening I not only found the eagle belt plate but another 1929 Standing Liberty quarter. It was only several days ago that I found the other beautiful one at another site across town. This one I believe is even in better condition. The one from tonight is on the right.

the wow that almost wasn't.... an eagle belt plate

And to think I almost passed this signal up. It was showing up at 1230 at 6 inches but it was considerably deeper so I covered the hole thinking it was trash. I walked away but the next time I passed it in my grid I listened to it again and thought it was worth a second try and out popped this...

    Nice standing Liberty quarter

It was nice to see this pretty lady pop out of the ground from about six inches. Signal was crisp and clear, which surprised me since I thought I had detected that area before, but it is a large site so I may overlooked it.

Not into bad shape considering it's age. I found this one only a couple hundred feet away from where I found those four other connecticut copper coins.

An emotional goodbye to my 1793 Liberty Cap

Well, I just mailed the coin to one of the big auction houses. It looks like it will be going up for sale in September in Philadelphia at the Stacks and Bowers Americana Sale. I will let you know what it sells for then. In 29 and a half years of detecting, I have never sold anything I found so...
