This time I went with My friend Tony. Hit the same area as last time, and within 20 minutes, I had 2 more silvers...A 1917 Merc, and a 1954 Rosie. I also found 5 wheats (1944, 46x2, 47, and 56). also found 33 cents in clad for a 2 hour hunt...About 45 min into our hunt my other friend Jeremy...

Past this park up in the past...Wish I hadn't...

Met my friend Jeremy at 7am and we hit a park I have passed by without hunting many times, thinking it was newer and nothing to be had there..Boy was I wrong! The park has promise, and the wildlife is cool too...Wish I had my video camera on me as a big tom turkey strutted out of the woodline...

Met new Friend and Hunted New Park

Met up with Jeremy Friday Evening and we hit a park that most folks in my area plumb forget about. Jeremy was the big winner with his Ace 250, scoring a 10K Gold ring (although crushed, it is still solid and fixable). My e-Trac did not do so well...I only turned up 1 1952 Wheat, and a 1965...

    I failed to mention...

I tried the TTF pattern with the 6" EQ2 coil the other day, and I was totally blown away...I would get a iffy hit and knew iron was in the hole, but I would also get a good tone with the iron...I would dig, and sure enough...The iron would be there, then I would rescan the hole and get the good...

A Long Bike Ride and 3 Hours Detecting

Packed the e-Trac on my back, along with batteries, radios, pro and 6" coils, knee pads, rags, and other needed items. Put my belt with pouches, pro-pointer, and diggers around my waist. I hopped onto my 21 speed Mountain Bike, and off I went like a crazy person headed for a local County...

    2 Dollars...1 Hole

First day of May,and the first hole I dig registers as a 12/13-45/46, and shallow (2 inches). I dig and see a target that I first thought was a token, then I noticed Lady Liberty and realized I had a Presidential Dollar coin. I rescaned the hole and discovered another in there with the first...

    On your Mark...

Get Set...Go Detecting! I got a strange 12-31 signal that stayed put and was a solid repeatable signal...thought I might have an Injun, but out pops a copro-bronze 5 Deutche Mark coin from 1983 Minted in Frankfurt, Germany. Back when I was in the service in 1986-1990, that would have been worth...

No Silver tonight in my coffee

To quote a great song...No Silver tonight in my tea...No Silver to be found so far this past week. Went out on Sunday, and I was laid up on Monday...My back and right elbow were hurting me (getting old)...I did manage 5 wheats, a pocketful of clad, and I got "CAR" in the hole (1961 Jaguar E-Type...

Are the ones who just lurk the SMART ones?

Are the hunters who just lurk on forums the SMART ones...I am starting to think so...Do you relaize that if you take photos of your finds in the field with most smart phones, that the photo gets tagged with the exact GPS coordinates where you took your picture? Someone with the right software...

    It all makes Perfect Cents

Started the day off with a Friend in a park that proved to be devoid of anything but junk...Moved on to a second park, but most of the targets were pennies. Now we did dig a bunch of 1930s-1940s Wheat Cents, and a bunch of Copper Cents. Quarters and Dimes were far and in-between...I did manage 4...

Easy way to bring out detail on dirty silver colored coins (clad)

Rub the coin with a graphite pencil, then use the eraser on the coin....rub off any excess graphite with a tissue. DO not wash or use liquids on the coin afterwards. The graphite DOES NOT remove the crud, it just covers it and brings out detail and dates on coins. Eraser must be soft pink type...

Getting hard to find anything good in my areas

No silver today. Oldest coin was a 1939 nickel from the woods. Found a cool ball with tinsel and light inside. strobes multi-color when bounced. I picked up the batteries in the light I think. it was just under the leaves. $1.25 in clad for the day. Oldest coins were 1939 Nickel, 1965 Dime and...

    Nothing Special Today

My friends were either sick or busy, so I went to my local field to hunt for about two and a half hours. got $3.92 in clad, 1947 and 1953 Wheats, and a coach zipper pull (I think). If I get over $1.00 an hour I am happy. HH,
