Short hunt waiting on lunch group!

I had the ring checked out and although you could not make out a GF it turned out to be gold fill with a nice stone. It is not an emerald but they did not know what type of stone it was just that it was not glass. I still got a great find with the 925 bracelet.

Thanks! Some days things just click. I do wish I could have kept on going but I had commitments.

Short hunt waiting on lunch group!

Yesterday I had a lunch plan with some business associates that was delayed so I took the opportunity to go check out a sports complex. It is currently having some construction work done but the fields are not being used. I stopped in to check out the lay of the land. I was just going to...

Small Coil , Which one is the best?

The temperature problem is of interest to me out here in west Texas and it is not in transporting the detector. It is 2:15 pm CT and the air temperature is 96.5 F in the shade. I just took my hand held temperature gun and took a reading of the ground surface out where we would be out...

    Things are really slow

Weekend tied up but did get out to hit a school yard/park late Sunday evening. It was still around a 100F at 5:00pm here but the threat of showers started cooling things off. All modern coins and a few trinket items. Nothing of any value.

Shooter DD4x6- How high is too high?

I agree with the suggestions on how to improve or have a better computer interface. My goal is still to be able to know if my detector is running at peak performance before I am out there fighting the elements. Reason is many of our most promising detecting sites are more than a 100 mile one...

    Fisher M-scope 1260-x

Does anyone here know: How to remove the main board from the case with out damaging the unit? I have one from a friend that does not work but would like to try to repair it without damaging it. I think I know how to get in but it would be helpful if someone has already done it.

Shooter DD4x6- How high is too high?

I really wasn't trying to start a scrap but better understand the Sensitivity Probe function Whites has provided in the V3i and determine if a coil is loosing its null. I was more interested in knowing what are acceptable and unacceptable-----Signal % vs Rx vs Frequency. Whites could probably...

Shooter DD4x6- How high is too high?

Here is my scenario and experience. First you have a built in function to analyze the coils performance and since we do not have Superman vision to see what is in the soil. The problem exists that if you are not getting signals and finding targets is it because there are none or...

Shooter DD4x6- How high is too high?

I too will be monitoring the signal loss on each of my coils. I am in the process of building a "coil test sheet" to record the purchase date, the date and time and for each test frequency the signal loss readings across the range of Rx values with comments. It will be interesting to see...

Shooter DD4x6- How high is too high?

How high is too high of a signal loss on a coil? In this case I have the Eclipse Shooter "DD" (4x6) V rated. On sensitivity probe at RX = 15 the air loss % is 60.1 and on the ground it is 61.8. At RX = 10 it is 41.5 air / 42.2 ground. It is still over 20% at an RX of 5. It doesn

    5.3 coil

After thinking about this for a while what you are seeing makes sense. If you look at the diagram in Carl's Advanced guide on pg 5-1 the Rx Gain (Pre-amp) is amplifying any signal to noise ratio as it comes from the coil where as the Discrimination Sens. in way down the processing chain. You...

    5.3 coil

Well I guess that when you send the coil in and they re-null the coil. They are taking the coil apart and rebuilding them.

    V3i finds first Mercury

Hunting a lot that had been hunted many times before and day earlier had produced the war nickel; the V3i with a 5.3 coil was able to find its first Mercury dime. The coin was near a piece of iron pipe which I was getting a chatty good signal from one end. The lot is laced with old rusty iron...
