Friday's hunt--a tale of woe and resolve

Another tip that might help here is to shorten your rod so that your detector is closer to your feet. It forces you to slow down. Honestly, I'm not finding any more silver with my ET than I do with my V.

    V3 tearing it up!

Awesome job! The shield nickel still eludes me. :rage: What part of the country are you in (I'm curious because of the CC dime).

Friday's hunt--a tale of woe and resolve

Your second guessing your equipment and yourself too much. Your machine would have got that coin with just about any option. Magic gave you some really good advice above. Theres nothing special about minelabs, don't buy into the hype. I mean they're great machines but so is your V. BTW, I...

    Does your ET do this?

Okay, it's driving me crazy! I get a good deep (or even shallow) signal. Look down at my screen and the FE and CO numbers are not matching what I'm hearing. Lift my coil to the air until I get a threshold hum and re-try. Usually the numbers correct. Sometimes they don't for several attempts...

    WTT XLT for M6

I have a Jimmy Sierra XLT (rare factory hip mount) in great condition that I'd like to trade for a Whites M6. (No MXT's considered, MXT is a great machine but I want the tone ID of the M6) ' Still have a year or more warranty on your M6? I'll add either a 4" or 5.3 coil (you choose) to sweetin...

Understanding Some of the Magic of the V3's Analysis Screen

Thanks Much Jeff!!! I'm looking forward to the book and waiting patiently but in the meantime little tidbits like this are very helpful. :) If you have time to respond I have a question....... In my test bed I have a silver dime buried in the 8" range. I played with different frequencies...

Can you use other Bluetooth headphones?

You didn't buy that V3 recently listed on ebay did you? The USED one that went for over what would be retail with headphones showed the headphones raved about the system and then buried near the bottom of the (long) listing said the headphones were optional and not included. Someone got taken on...

    Recent V3 finds.

Sorry Ron I missed that this thread had been topped and a question asked. Sorry, can't share my secret program. :nono: Kidding. I'm just using hi-pro with the upper numbers (90's) accepted. I accept these numbers because in my soil the high mineralization will make VDI numbers jump way up. If a...

    Nickel search

Yep, I agree. Prospecting mode isn't going to help and the program would be way noisey and may even cause you to miss good signals in all the chatter. Hunt in Hi-Pro. Dig deeper signals from 18-40 VDI (depending on your soil) that pinpoint strongest in 2.5 (blue). Nickels (and maybe some pull...

    Fisher F70 vs Spectra V3

This is a V3 forum. You'll only get one answer over and over. :detecting: That said, I'm not biased at all. I love all detectors and while I haven't owned an F70 I have owned a F75. The ONLY advantage I found in the F75 was it's lighter weight (and well, it's cheaper price but you siad $ was...

    Nickel search

Might be worth noting if you're in mineralized soil? I am and I'm guessing Oregon is also (the home state of the original poster?) All my signals ring higher on the V when deep. A Buff or a V at 6+ will ring in the mid 30's until it's out of the ground.

Any V3 users have Digital Cameras???

Generally I won't post pics unless I've had what I consider a stellar outing/site. I could post a bunch of mercs.rosies but really whats the point? We've all seen them before. My theory on why many pics aren't posted is because Whites users tend to be guys (and gals) who have been detecting a...

Pod Control Cover ..does it exist ?

Yep, I've had a cover for every machine I've ever owned and thats true of all of them. My Etrac has a really tight fitting cover that pulls the clear plastic straight but it still gives a glare. One trick around this if you want to use a cover. Hunt by sound and when you get over a signal in...

    TRASFER PROGRAMS BY USB

Must mean the dongle because I've yet to see a USB plug on the V. ;) I don't think sharing programs is going to be every effective for the V. It's one of those detectors that IMO must be matched to the soil and conditions you are hunting therefore you should only share programs with local...

Pod Control Cover ..does it exist ?

Thanks, ya, thats the UK maker. There is a US maker also. The cover isn't quite as nice but its cheaper, and less of a hassle than getting from the UK. Though given a choice it looks like it may be worth it over the US manufacturer.

Congrats Jim. She's a beauty too! :clapping: Assuming you are in NorCal (like me). 1853 is a pretty old coin for us west coasters. You're in a good spot for sure.
