WTS 5" coil for Teknetics G2/Omega $65 shipped

I bought this coil brand new from Bart @ Bigboyshobbies about 3 months ago. I've used it several times. It seems to have almost the same depth (if not the same on the G2) as the stock DD coil on the G2, and almost the same depth as the stock Omega coil. Extremely good iron separation. I've had...

    Teknetics G2/ 5" coil/ Greyghost headphones

I purchased this unit about three months ago from Bart at Bigboyhobbies. Also the Greyghost Headphones. I have been using it about three times per week on the average since then. Fully functional. I bought a new unit from Bart this morning and need cash. If you are looking for Teknetics G2/...

    Enfield Bullet Cache!

Took the G2 out this evening. I located a target in the 72 range (bullet) and dug around it with my shovel, taking care not to get too close to the target spot. Ended up diggin 13 Enfields out of that one hole. And the wonderful thing is, I knicked 7 of the 13 bullets with my shovel while...

First Impression of the Omega 8000

My machine came today. Bart always ships fast. He doesn't mess around. That's why I do business with him. Upon signing for the package I noticed that the box was somewhat caved in on one end of it. I thought: "Oh my gosh, it'll be broken". But it was not. I put the unit together and stuck a...

    Teknetics Omega 8000

Well I bought me an Omega 8000 from Bart at Bigboyshobbies yesterday, along with a 5 inch coil. I have been using a Teknetics G2. Great detector. But I wanted to try something new and I liked what I've been reading about the Omega8000. Plus, I like Teknetics detectors in general. I hope to...

The Tek G2..... my connection with Civil War history.

Had a good morning. The weather was awesome. Hi 50's and Lo 60's made the woods where I was hunting very nice! It seemed to make the mosquitos double hungry so I set out some DEET fer 'em to munch on. I'm nice like that. Anyway.....tried a new spot today looking for old Union Army campsites...

To the Test Garden with the Tek G2 (plus recent finds)

I made a very small test garden with a few coins and a couple of civil war bullets. They have been buried for about a week. This is in red Tennessee dirt. Target #1 Clad quarter buried at 8 inches. The g2 makes solid contact, in Disc and All Metals mode. Gain at 100. Target#2 Clad dime at...

The G2 sniffs out a Lemat 40 cal pistol bullet today!

Didn't have but an hour to do some detecting today. So I put my F-75 5 inch coil on my Tek G2. Works just fine. I found a couple pieces of camp lead and then hit a 65 signal on the G2. Out comes this nice little bullet. Gain was set at 100. Disc at 40.

What brand of battery do you use????

I didn't want to hi-jack the other thread about batteries by asking this question there. I have been using the plain jane Ray-o-vac in my G2 and I am not getting but about 3 to 4 to 5 hours of usage before the unit drops to a single bar on the battery-life meter. How about Energizer-Max...

The Tek G2 continues to extract CW relics!

For the last 2 weeks I have been absolutely hammering this tiny CW campsite that somehow escaped development. It's in the yard of a small house in the middle of the town I live in. Actually, all of the bullets and buttons, and misc, relics have come from a spot that a 20 ft by 20 ft tarp would...

New G-2 sniffs out Civil War relics from amongst iron!

I was a bit of a skeptic. I admit it. All the talk about the G2 being good at picking goodies out of iron. So....I bought one. First place I took it was to the small Civil War Union campsite that has yielded several buttons, bullets, and a few other interesting items. I worked that place to...

:thumbup:Metal Detecting Adventures II w/ Bill Ladd (5 stars!!)

It's done alot of raining down here in Tennessee for the last couple of days. Haven't been able to do a bit of detecting. But watching Bill Ladd's latest production is the next best thing. Well done, and very entertaining. Being new to the metal detecting hobby, I walked away with some great...

Please help with Old Button ID

Me and my hunting buddy went out saturday and did some detecting. He found this old button, and since it didn't look like any Civil War button that I've seen or heard about, I sorta dismissed it. But it looks to old to be casually dismissed. Does anyone here have any idea what era this button...

More Civil War relics w/ F75 SE (5 inch coil)

No buttons today, but the bullets and balls are almost equally satisfying. One bullet MAY have been dug out of a soldier. From what I've read and heard, alot, if not most, of the wounded Union soldiers were taken to the town for treatment of their wounds during and after the major battle near...

What a day with the F-75 S.E. (Civil War stuff!)

I've gone and done it now!!! I asked for and recieved permission this morning to hunt the yard of a small vacant house in my little southern town. I was hoping to find a silver dime, maybe a few wheat cents. That's all it would've taken to please me. I never thought I'd have stumbled onto...

First Indian Head. New Fisher F-75 LTD

Took delivery of my new F75 LTD this morning. An hour later I was swinging that thang over an old homeplace in town. Fifteen minutes later pulled this worn Indian Head out of the ground. Even though it's barely readable, I'm tickled as can be about it. Dropped by an old school grounds that has...

    Need some discriminating advice

Hope everyone has had a great weekend. It's good to see people posting some good finds. I have found a few wheats this weekend. They are fun to find. Keeps the confidence level high. Now to my question: This afternoon, after church, I planted 3 mercury dimes in three different holes after...

    Wow!!! Day 2 w/ the E-Trac: Barber Quarter (1902)!!!!!!!!!!!

[/img]Well this is another first for me! I dug a Barber quarter up from about 6 to 7 inches. I uploaded Andy S. coin pattern and tweaked my settings to match Nebtrac's from his U tube video. Thanks Nebtrac, for posting the helpful info in the :First Hundred Hours video. I had dug a wheat...

First Day with the E -Trac

Went back to an old homeplace that I had worked completely over with my AT Pro and found a 1936 Wheatie within my first ten minutes of swinging. This boosted my confidence. I like the way this rig whistles when on target. I didn't get to hunt but about 30 minutes at the place and had to go...
