E-Trac comes through yet again (1820&1845 Large Cents)

Last Friday was 70 degrees outside, so my friend and I went to our favorite spot. It was wet from all the snow melting, so it was really muddy. This did not hinder our efforts. I ended up finding 2 large cents. My friend found 1 large cent too, but also a really beautiful pair of antique silver...

Need help on ID of old copper. (I think it's a W3 Halfpence?)

I found this sitting on the surface of an old farm field. When I first picked it up I knew it was probably an old copper coin from somewhere in Europe, most likely England or Ireland. I also knew it looked really worn and damaged. The next day I had the opportunity to clean it and try to get an...

So there I was, in the deep woods, digging up my target, when I was startled by a loud sound...

It sounded like a short burst of afterburn from a turbine engine. It scared me, because it sounded close and I realized this sound does not belong in this forest. What could it be?? I looked up and saw.... an air balloon with people looking down on me, just above the tree tops! They yelled...

So I was out hunting in the woods and noticed it was too quiet... :surprised:

...and I looked down and noticed that the cord sticking out the shaft was longer than it normally is. :| The connection inside came apart, and I was swinging for a good hour without realizing it! I'm going to have to take some pliers and vicegrips and tighten it a tad over hand tight...

...you finally find that next large copper you have been searching for, only to have it so badly corroded that you can't ID it? Like my friend said... bittersweet find.

My E-Trac was on fire today, 1773 1/2 Reale!!

Amazing day for me. Went to a spot I hunt frequently immediately after work (need my fix!) It turned into a hour hunt with my E-trac in all metal and sensitivity maxed. I dug my first hole and realized I left my Propointer in the car! I said screw that I will hunt without it... and hunt I...

Summary of first few hunts with my E-Trac

Hello all, First let me tell you a bit about my experiences with metal detecting. A few years back I bought a Garrett GTI2500 and after about a year of detecting I found one 182? large cent, 100 or so wheaties, 5 buff nickels, 5 1932-46 silver quarters, an assortment of relics and about 5...

Winter Games 2010, V3 vs. Etrac: V3 gets the Gold!

Hello all, I was the guy with the E-Trac. That day i didn't even think of it as a competition... but I guess I was wrong. Yes Neil has many years of experience on his side, and truthfully that day I felt unfullfilled and dissapointed in myself, so... I went back a few days later for about 70...
