    Headphones?

Keywords to look for are "aptX-LL", which is a low latency codec Nokta supports. Non-LL devices will have a rather awful lag. Alternatively, you can try putting some soft (cotton or fleece) aviation style covers on stock headphones (that's what I do with all my detectors).

    Audio gain.

You need to remember that literally every indicator (audio volume, VDI, depth etc) is only working as intended on coin sized targets. If your target is massive or tiny, the readings will be way off, including the audio volume. A tiny earring on the surface will sound faint and "deep", while a...

    Nox to legend

Everyone and their uncle has a Nox. Very few of the "offline" people ever heard about the Legend… yet. Yes, it still struggles with dense foil. But at the same time it often sees stuff that Nox cannot. For example, last outing I've found a tiny gold bracelet with a bunch of diamonds… it gave a...

    Learning curve?

Out of the box, it has 4 modes/programs with telltale names. Turn it on, set the mode an go, as simple as that. You can start tweaking when you familiarize yourself with the machine.

Will they ever make 5" sniper coil for the simplex?

Anfibio has a 5" coil, the Legend does not. Smallest Legend coil is 6" LG15, smallest Simplex coils is 8.5" SP22. The only advantage SP22 has over elliptical SP24, it lets you get a wee bit closer to metal posts and fences without overloading. In all other scenarios, SP24 is vastly superior.

    More Legend quirks

Maybe, or maybe not. I wonder how other SMF/FMF detectors will handle that… If you have other machines to compare, I suggest repeating the whole "spreading pulltabs slowly" routine for each of them, as their "blind spots", if present, will likely vary.

    More Legend quirks

10-20% of our eyes field of view is taken by a blind spot, yet somehow we don't even notice most of the time. I doubt that I'll ever encounter a silver ring laying between 2 pulltabs that are perfectly spaced at 2-3". But it's good to know about the shortcomings of your machine. For example, as...

    More Legend quirks

Here's another one for your collection… Take 2 pulltabs (29-30 in my case, one was a beavertail; not sure if it matters) and a silver ring (mine was 45); put it between these pulltabs. If pulltabs are closer than 1" to the ring, the whole thing reads like a pulltab, regardless of recovery speed...

    Legend in modern trash

I was in the military long before ear protection, so I hear higher pitches all the time! 🤪

    Legend in modern trash

That'll be my neighbor across the street, who gave me a generous permission to dig as much as I want in her backyard… which needs a goddamn pickaxe even after weeks of rain :ROFLMAO: The built in speaker is muffled, that's a side effect of being waterproof and padded to withstand water...

    Legend in modern trash

In my finds collection, I have a very interesting artifact… I call it "the earring of doom". It's a small, but very intricate white gold earring that doesn't register on any SMF/FMF machine running stock program. It can be detected if you tweak the stock program, of course, but otherwise…...

    Legend in modern trash

As I said elsewhere, it's fine if you want to dig all nonferrous signals. Problem is, with the math like 15+50=11, there's a possibility that some combination of nonferrous metals might read as ferrous. I think you need a new avatar to reflect that… 🦆:ROFLMAO:

Legend Upgrade v1.09 Instructions / Use v1.07 Installer

I don't think NM makes the updater tool, it looks and feels like a white label from UART manufacturer… and UART manufacturers are notoriously bad at creating user friendly software.

    Legend in modern trash

Even in this scenario, trying to guess what you're about to dig out is a big part of the fun. Don't pretend it's not, as otherwise you likely would've settled with a much cheaper machine  This hypothesis doesn't hold any water, especially when 15+50=11. Legend has plenty of processing...

    Legend in modern trash

Neither do I. But a high conductor sounding like foil certainly needs to be addressed. By the way, earlier I said that Simplex behaves the same way with foil… it does. But it also needs to be compared to other single frequency VLF machines in this regard, as it might be Achilles heel for all of...

I'm getting high from reading this.

    external battery

In this capacity it acts exactly the same as if you had a stock charging/data cable plugged into USB power bank.

    external battery

Modern machines, including the Legend, are capable of processing data at faster speeds than what I could swing comfortably. But even with my vanilla swing speed, it takes me a few minutes to adjust after switching between wired and wireless.
  19. pulltaboo

    external battery

Water. The moment your control box goes underwater, you'll lose wireless communication. Another possible reason to prefer wired is latency. Yes, NM headphones are LL… but wired muffs have zero latency. So if you like to swing at extreme speeds, you may prefer wired headphones. KISS principle...

    external battery

I, on the other hand, disagree. More ports equals more potential points of failure, especially for a waterproof device. The fact that you can't plug an external battery pack while using wired headphones is just a mild inconvenience, IMO… acceptable sacrifice in the name of waterproofness and...
