    relic hunting. random walks or gridding

    I do the random walk....until I find a bullet or two. Then I'll start a grid search. It paid off when I found one IH cent. Found a total of 8 in a 10'x10' area that day. Went back to the same spot, different day, different detector, and found four more. No more were found in later hunts.

    Nice finds! I swing the Deus also. That spot doesn't seem to be pounded at all! Lol. I'm in a metal detecting group down there. We're having another hunt at Lake Meade Park Sunday. Some Civil War stuff in there and old homesites too. Come join the crowd!

    Still makes no sense to me as I don't hunt beaches. Relic hunting in fields, old homesites and woods is all the detecting I do. I find coins and rings too. Oldest coin...1776 2 reale, lots of IH, large cents, a mess load of mercs, silver quarters, a flying eagle cent, 1864 2 cent piece, buffs...

    I'll be keeping mine...only had it for about a year, so it makes no sense, to me, to get the new one. I may get the hf coil though.

    Found this brass gas valve with iron attached. Challenging target to dig but the Deus got past that iron!

    Nice button! Those are hard to come by. I've dug only 2 Mississippi I buttons here in Va. Both found with the Nautilus.

    Just got through exchanging emails with customer service at Garrett...great news... they found a discontinued set of headphones that will work for me. They're gonna send them to me for free! Totally unexpected! Can't get any better than that! Great customer service! Thanks Garrett!

    Garrett says they are mono but wired for stereo. They allow for a single volume control but are not able to give completely different sounds in each ear. So I guess that answers my question...not being compatible with the 2b.

    I bought these about a year ago for the 2b and there is no high tone, which is good signal for the 2b...just a low tone in both earcups. I can pass a good target over the coil and only get a low tone. I have the Deteknix wireless headphones that has a cable that hooks into the 2b and they work...

    Just ordered my XP Deus

    Start out with the presets until you feel confident enough for some tweaking...numerous videos on YouTube from Gary B to watch also. Also keep your eye on this forum for some good tips. Lots of experience on here. Good luck!
