Could just be for the deaf and blind detectorists.

    Simplex+ Sucessor?

Appreciate the insight. My first detector was the Tesoro Bandido II µMAX, which I bought well used. The company did a complete overhaul on it for me and didn't charge me a dime. Probably why they are out of business now. From there I went to the V3i which is a good detector, but always took a...

    Simplex+ Sucessor?

So I have been on a 5+ year break from detecting and i'm looking to get back into things. My old detector is a White's V3i with a million accessories. I wanted something more turn-on and go, and I also periodically considered buying a water detector, so this seems like I good choice (my other...

Dear Whites....please add this feature to your next V3 upgrade...

And a nice red laser sight, so I can scare people off thinking I have a big ole rifle.

    Detech Ultimate 13" coil color

For their older coils, the black were the non v-rated. For this coil I believe they are all v-rated. Have only used mine twice, but both times it was >90 degrees and fairly humid. Was honestly the most stable large coil I ever used (about on par with my 950), and allowed me to get closer to...

    Oldest silver find yet

Found this behind a local school that has been hit hard for years, nothing else was found except for a few clad coins and lots of trash. While 20th century silver tends to come out of the ground looking brand new around here, older silver always seems to get chewed up. Don't know why that is...

    15x12sef does this look right0?

Sounds like they finally worked the kinks out. I can't get mine anywhere near EMI unless I want to work in signle frequency mode. In a clean environment I can run 70/92 w/ RX of 10, which seems to go as deep or deeper than my D2 while covering twice the ground.

    Last years neat finds.

I didn't have the chance to get out much last year, but I did find a couple of neat items I wanted to share. Most of the items I don't know anything about. Theres a half cent (can't read the date). An interesting token. A Heads I win, Tales you lose coin, and two military buttons. If you can...

    Info about bluetooth data capabilities

Just wanted to point out that I understand that it isn't "Bluetooth". That said, unless White's engineered a from scratch radio (not the protocol) they likely used an OTS component. There are only so many single-chip small form factor low power draw low cost radios capable of...

    Info about bluetooth data capabilities

It has been a long time since the discussions concerning the dongle usb adapter to allow for transfer of saved programs (I understand that is a dead project). Originally I had intended to write a program to allow for visualization of program settings and quick adjustment (I.E. my new coil IDs...

Just picked up a 8x6 sef and.........

When they make a v-nulled 8x6 like they have with the larger SEF coils I may have to jump on it. My buddy has one of the older black coils and while he can run it plenty hot, it ID's middle conducting signals much different than the normal coils do.

Small Coil , Which one is the best?

You mean the 8x6 excelerator coil? This is only produced in the older "black" style, right? Does it ID nickels funny like the older larger excelerator coils?

V3i and nails / trash - need settings recomendations.

More or less echoing what has been said above: If you only need to get down 6" then you don't need to blast the RX. You would be much better served up your Disc to 90-92 (as long as it is stable) and inch the rx up from 4-8 again keeping it stable. Then knock that recovery way down (probably...

12x10 VS. 15x12 SEF. Any advantage for bigger coil?

I use my 12x15 (white SEF) as often as I can. That said, it turns out that about 1/3rd of the places I hunt have too much EMI for the coil to be useful. When I can use the coil I get maybe an extra inch on coin sized objects over my D-2 (though my D-2 runs super hot), but the extra coverage is...

SEF 10x12 died today(kinda).... That makes 4 white ones.

Maybe someone with a good coil (or several someones) could drop an ohm meter across each pin and let us know what the proper impedance is?
  17. H

Real opinions needed. 15x12 sef or 10x12?

What swing attachment are you talking about? For $25 I would jump on anything half way decent. The White's web page only shows a hipmount which is $60.

    12x15 SEF For V3i

I can second most of what Burlbark said, except that my unit is neigh unusable if there is any EMI present (like overhead or buried powerlines within a couple hundred feet). I don't have any issues with pinpointing though; you just have to remember that with an SEF coil you must pinpoint then...

    Interesting Observation for 12x15 Coil

Thanks Rob, I appreciate how informative your posts always are. In my particular case nothing else on that list (and believe me, I tried every one of those options) put much of a dent in the chatter until I adjusted the filter. But it makes sense now that you have explained the function of the...

    Interesting Observation for 12x15 Coil

I have posted my impressions of the 12x15 before, basically it boils down to the thing being crazy sensitive to EMI. But if you take it out into a field or big park you can run it hot enough to go deep. Well, today I went to a school and forgot my backup coil. Try as i might I couldn't calm the...
