Quick review of the new 12x15 (white) SEF Coil *With 2 Firsts*

I don't recall the procedure to get this number. If you would outline it for me I can check on Sunday when I go out again.

Quick review of the new 12x15 (white) SEF Coil *With 2 Firsts*

So last weekend I received my new 12x15 in the mail, but until today I did not have a chance to take it out for a spin. I did turn on my machine and run around the yard a bit, however I found the coil to be very EMI sensative (at least in my yard) and as such was not able to do much testing...

    New SEF Coil

Mine will TX boost as well, but appears to be very unstable. Falses constantly. Still need to take it out to the boonies to make sure, but I think it is defective. How quiet is yours and at what settings?

    10x12 SEF White or Black?

Leonard, I think you should be happy with the one you have. I got the white 12x15 and so far it appears to be very unstable. We can check it out this weekend if you would like, but I believe I will be echanging it for a new one. I will post my findings to the group for everyone.

    New SEF Coil

Got my white 12x15 SEF from kellyco on saturday, but it was raining most of the day and I haven't had a chance to take it out yet. In my yard, things aren't looking too good. I can run it up to a high rx gain (or run tx boost up to about rx of 12) without it overloading, and it will air detect...

    V-Rated SEF Coils

Coil may be here as early as tomorrow, and I am looking forward to using it this weekend. While I am being cautiously optimistic, this (possibly older) review of the white 12x10 SEF gives me reason to hope...

    New V3i

I also have a DX-1, however mine is a few years old as I bought it for my DFX. It will overload if the all metal sens is turned up too high unless I hold it by the base when locking in pinpoint mode, then grab it half way up (deadening the signal a bit). This makes it more stable and will still...

Barber and Finally it is all making sense.

I remember Magic's program from a year (or more?) ago, but I don't remember a pro program, or mixed mode. Is there a different version floating around somewhere? ----EDIT---- Oh, and awesome coin. I still have yet to find my first barber anything.

    V-Rated SEF Coils

Yeah, that looks like the same one. You have any input on it's use with the V3?

    V-Rated SEF Coils

I usually run my D2 now that I have a stable one. Not sure I ever check the signal loss (don't even remember how to do it). I usually just hold the detector at waist high and jiggle it, if it doesn't false I run it up a bit and continue until it gets unstable. Then back it off a bit. I usually...

    V-Rated SEF Coils

Ok, sounds like the same info as a couple of months ago then. I just had my hopes up given that Kellyco was reluctant to list the older coils as compatible with the V series detectors. Now they sell both on their site and list the new one as specifically for the V series. Guess I can just...

    V-Rated SEF Coils

Not sure about the weight yet, however I know the 10x12 is lighter than the D2. I am thinking the 12x15 may only be a little heavier (these are pretty thin coils). As for no difference between the black and the white, I remember the arguments that they aren't truely "null rated", however the...

    V-Rated SEF Coils

My buddy has been having pretty decent success with the 10x12 SEF coil for his V3i despite the fact that it is not made for the v series of detectors (he can run 10x70x92 as his default setting in best data). Today I checked the U.S. distributers website and noticed the white version "For...

How do *you* make the decision to dig a "ring"?

Thanks for the replies guys. Once you lay it out like that, site selection does indeed sound like the most important step. In my case, sites are limited to parks and schools. There are a couple of beaches nearby, but they are tiny and sometimes I swear there are more detectorists that visit...

    First 1800s Silver For Me

I am pretty lucky that my area has a lot of history (southern maryland), however, most of the local public parks and schools were either landfills previously or have been hunted a million times. The people who have access to some of the old fields down here routinely find spanish silver, so...

How do *you* make the decision to dig a "ring"?

I know this has been covered before. The last time I read anything about it was more than a year ago and I am hoping more people and more experience may lend to some better answers. So I have been a V3 owner since near the beginning, but despite going on pull tab rampages I have still dug very...

    First 1800s Silver For Me

Thanks guys. There's only a couple of places out here with the old stuff that are open to the public to detect. I generally don't hear about a location until long after it has been hunted out (at least that is my excuse). This is probably my best find yet.

    First 1800s Silver For Me

I like to complain to my hunting buddies that I have never pulled a Barber anything out of the ground. I guess thats still true, since I overshot it with this coin. Went to do a ring recovery but found that the beach had been pretty thoroughly hunted before we showed up, so after an hour of...

Day 2 of 2012, and I positively stomped day 1.

So, I can't be 100% on the date (especially since it is harder to see now than originally). When I first looked at it I was pretty sure it either said 1800 or 1808. The back side of the coin is very clear when wet and looks exactly like that pictures in the 1800-1808 Draped Bust half cents. I...
