    Hitting the beach Monday

School's out for the week and I'm hitting the beach Monday for the first time with the V3i. I'm in SoCal (Ventura County) and our sand is the dreaded black sand in the wet. I'm looking for advice on how to set up the machine. I'd like to detect both dry and wet sand but not in the water. Should...

    Finally

After two weeks and three outings, I finally found a coin with my V3i. 65 quarter, thought it was going to be silver given the area I was in. Two minutes later found a 1950 Wheatie. Fixed my recovery delay to better match my former MXT and I definitely understood the machine better. I will...

    Recovery Speed

Figured it out. It was only my second time out with the V3i after 100+ hours on my MXT. The delay was set to 80 in the Coin program so I made the adjustment downward.

    Recovery Speed

I'm having some issues with what I perceive to be recovery speed. I had an MXT before and I feel that the recovery speed was much faster on it than what I'm currently experiencing now on the V3i. I'm using the coin program with no modifications. Am I missing something? Thanks dave

    WTB Propointer Someone stole mine

Some idiot stole my propointer out of my console in my car the other night so I need to buy another one. I guess I also was an idiot because I didn't lock my car. PM me if you have one to sell.

The 5.3 Eclipse on the V3i

I used the 5.3 almost exclusively on the dirt with my MXT. I liked it because it forced me to go slower and I loved the pinpointing. Does anyone use the 5.3 on their V3i? Thanks Dave

    Helping Again

Great news! Thanks for taking the time to help those of us who don't know what we don't know. Dave

    Rob Is Right.

It might have more to do with a lot of people selling their V3i's so they could go and buy the XP or the CTX and thus no longer would come to this forum for support. I no longer own an MXT(which I only gave up to get my V3i) so I likely will only glance at that forum but come here for posts and...

Bingo! It was the funeral dirge! I thought I was going nuts. You can tell I had a crummy hunt if I didn't pinpoint twice long enough to cause a shut down.

Nope, I have Sun Rays. No wireless. It was weird to the point that I thought like I had won something or someone played a trick on me. It was an ominous tune and quite familiar but for the life of me I can't hum it right now.

Ok so I just got back. No coins, a small toy car, button and a stupid fly I swatted against my arm. I struggled a bit for sure, the multi-tones are definitely a switch from the MXT, but one thing that happened (twice) left me shaking my head. While searching, all of a sudden the V3i starts...

    Rob Is Right.

Well I hope it recovers then because I just became a V3i owner and I have a ton to learn. I traded in my MXT and my DF to get one and I go out tonight for the first time to use it. I am going back to a spot that has produced well for me in the past but the last 3 times I've been there I've been...

    Silver again and some wheat's

Great job! Another reason to dig the signal and the sound.

    When it's going good

Keep detecting! I got out to my new favorite place and set off to grid another area next to where I found all the foreign coins the other night. Got a 2 bar strength signal between 83-89 VDI at 6 inches so I dug. Baaaaazing! I finally dug my first real silver quarter. 1920 S Standing liberty. I...

    Need help with this coin

I've been searching for the origin of this coin and I can't figure it out. It's dated 1895 with a 1 on the front and what appears to be a mason's square on the back along with the design. Any help would be great. Thanks Dave

Awesome night and I need some ID help

Got out with my father-in-law tonight to hit a spot where we've pulled old chinese coins, one silver 1928 quarter and a bunch of wheats. I moved up to another location, got a great signal and dug a 1787 Carolus III coin, a 1907 Tio Ore (sweden) 10 coin a coin with a 1 on it from 1895(still...

V3/V3i owners would you make this trade

Thanks for the informative responses. I'd love to be able to keep my MXT and acquire a V3i but finances are the issue. I'm not afraid of the learning curve as the rewards of learning the machine seem to outweigh any negatives. I've got some great spots to return to as soon as I am able to...

V3/V3i owners would you make this trade

I'm thinking of upgrading to a single machine. I have an MXT 300 for the dirt/dry sand and a Dual Field for the water. I thought I would spend more time actually in the water(SoCal surf) but I have found that I like detecting the wet sand and dry better as being out in the surf doesn't suit my...

    best day so far

I went with my father in law yesterday to an old homestead site where we had hunted before. While on a hill I looked over at an area that looked to have been homesites but due to fires and mud slides it appeared to be just one big slope about two acres in size. We wandered over there and could...
