What do detectorist use to put dirt on while digging a hole

I use one of those plastic cutting boards that roll up. I can keep under my arm or stick in my back pocket while detecting until needed. They work great for funneling the dirt back in to the hole.

    Silver and Gold

The ring was at 4-5 inch's down and was reading 15-16 on the 22.5 scale. This was the coin stock settings.

    Silver and Gold

I hit the local school and local park for a little this past weekend. The ground is hard and we could use a little rain in upstate NY right now. The 1957 dime was from a new spot a started detecting on Sunday. I also found 5 Wheaties from 1936-1944. The funny thing is that I found no clad, this...

    First Gold Ring This Year

My son wanted to go out detecting with me for a little bit after dinner. We went to a near by school that I've been hunting all year hoping for a Silver Merc to add to his collection. We were finding alot of clad a few inches down using the stock Coin settings. I decided to dig anything that hit...

    Greetings V3I Forum

Welcome Greg, this forum is much better than the manual. It seems every day I'm learning something new from the experts that are using the V3. I suggest reading the as many posts and replies as you can. Most of the V3 users on the forum have the machine down to a science and it always helps...

    Last Weeks Finds

The 1939D Merc and the Silver Ring are from the Gun Powder Mill that I found last weekend. The soil in the section that I hunted was pretty boggy, the dime as almost completely black and the .925 ring I cleaned up a little. The ring says .925 on one end and E-M on the other. I'm not to sure what...

    4th of July Finds

Went to an old Gun Powder Mill that is now a fishing park in Bushnell's Basin NY. I just started hunting this park and I have a lot of ground to cover, so these are my first finds from the first picnic area I hunted. I used the stock setting RX at 7, using the 5.3 coil,( many pull tabs). This is...

    First Big Silver

I went to a local middle school in Macedon New York to give one of the grass fields a try. I had on the stock coil with the stock settings hoping to find a few coins to give me an idea of what years and depths are around the area. This was my first time at the school and I was not to sure if any...

    June Dime Finds

I've been pounding the sane school for the past two months and each time I think I cant find any more, I find a area of Silver or Wheaties. I've been using the DD stock coil because the area is not to trashy even though the 5.3 coil works better for me in taller grass if it has not been cut in a...

    Hunting Trashy Area's

Thanks Magic for the reply. What will I notice different when I set the recovery speed between 40 and 60? I am charging the battery now and I am not sure what the stock recovery speed was set at. Will changing frequency's help at all?

    Hunting Trashy Area's

Hello all, this past weekend I was hunting a trashy park in upstate NY, and I was able to pull a 1932 Wheatie and a 1951 Rosie, also about 50 or so pull tabs (hoping for a ring). I was using the stock setting on coin mode with the RX 7 and Disc. 75. This was the second time using my new 5.3 coil...

    Advice, Surveillance Interference

Hello all, I received permission to coin hunt around an old estate built in 1840-1850, and it is surrounded by live wire security fences among other surveillance devices. I started hunting in coin search and deep silver and I was chirping on almost every swing. I was receiving hits that were...

    V3 First Time Out

I received my V3 in early December, and last week was its first test. I went to a local high school built in the late 40's. Among acres of snow covered fields I was able to find a small section showing green grass. I turned on my V3 and programed to Coin and got started. Within my first 10...
