Class rings and gold from the lake--here's how I grid in the water

Hit the lake twice this week. First day a whopping 1.5 penny weight 10k band and a Lander university girls ring. I think tungsten would have been more valuable than the gold. Found the girl from Lander university in less than 4 hours from my call to the school until she called me back...

I thought tungsten was inexpensive...I was wrong

Went to the lake today. Ho Hum, another tungsten. Thought it strange it had diamonds. Shocked when I saw it lists for over 500 everywhere. Who'd have thunk it?

It wasn't a platinum day but I'll take it

Two honker rings today. One 14 k the other silver. Myrtle beach is tough but if you gut it out and put in the time gold things happen.

    Myrtle beach platinum

Been here three days. I think I've found 20 3 ounce pyramid sinkers. Figured if I was finding heavy lead eventually something worth a damn would show up. Yesterday it did. Platinum with 8 diamonds. I think it's a mans ring but Mama has it now. She likes it with another ring I found several...

The hunt is over and now the hunt begins

Hit a lake today in NC. Email to University of Florida alumni association already sent. I'm sure it was lost this past weekend cuz finds were few and far between, maybe 35 cents.

    sayonara osaka

Fun is over. Have to fly back home. Not as good today cuz money was coming out of ground instead of rings. 2 gold, happy hunting to all.both 18 kt. One has three rings that are looped to make one ring. 7 silver, and 3 junk. Overall, a damn fine way to spend a layover.

    Greetings from Osaka

Hit the beach for four hours today on day one of my layover. 4 gold, 8 silver, 3 stainless, 3 Junkers. The Chrome Hearts is fake. Happy hunting to all.

    Fishing/metal detecting assault bicycle

Just finished my project for the upcoming beach season. A little paint on the front rack and the rear wood block and she's done. It's primarily set up for fishing but the boxes on the rear are waterproof and they have flaps that open. I can put my coil and scoop in the boxes and have the...

These was from 3 weeks ago in Osaka, Japan

Found the Bvlgari 18 kt ring right where the surf makes a little lip from the slope of the beach into the water. The silver items are called Chrome Hearts. I never heard of them but apparently they used to be real popular, especially in Japan. The bracelet lists for 1200 new and the rings were...

Found a little gold in Hong Kong

On my layover. The single ring is .999 on the inside. Very malleable. The other two are an 18kt band and the shiny one is 18k wrapped in platinum. The wet sand was super soft so no heavy targets were to be found. Found everything out in the water where the sand was packed. My Stavr scoop...

Boat is pulling out of Charleston

On the Fantasy leaving Charleston. . The ship goes to a little private island called little stirrup cay that 6 different cruise ships use. Of course I've got my Xcal with the WOT. I'm sure it's hit pretty hard. I'll let you know in six days how it worked out. Happy hunting to all.

What kind of shoes for water hunting

I'm not new to the hobby. Problem is I've never settled on what kind of shoe to wear detecting in the water. I've seen guys with electrical tape at the top of dive booties. Sometimes I go barefooted. Sometimes a boat shoe on one foot and bare on the other to feel for sunglasses. Sandals...

Ol Beechnut, you're known around the world

Went detecting in Japan last week. Don't even think of going to Enoshima beach. Picture a garbage landfill covered with black sand. A target every 10 inches and it's all junk. Went further south to Osaka. Was hitting the wet sand seeing if my PI could find anything my Excal had missed in...

My daughter wanted to know if I had any toe rings

My daughter asked me tonight if I had any toe rings in "that bag you have with the rings you always give away". We found one or two-:) Just wanted to share and keep myself pumped up for the work ahead.

Hey Old Beechnut, the excal you fixed is working plenty good

Well, I'm not complaining but, you gotta know you're not gonna find a lot of gold when you hunt in Japan. Seems they really don't wear a lot of jewelry. I spent my Monday layover on a beach near Osaka Japan. All told 16,500 yen which is about 140 U.S. dollars. 14 rings and all were junk...

Pic of 2 days hunting in Asia=gold

    Joe Priest is the MAN!

It's been a long, long time since I posted but, today I just have to give a public great big thank you and Bravo Zulu to Joe Priest. Last fall I searched the forum looking for someone who could fix my excal that had a WOT on it. I figured the unit was toast but I decided to give Joe a call. I...

    excalibur-what's my problem now

Hey all, sent my excalibur back to Minelab back in July because it was chirping so bad even with the sensitivity turned all the way down. I had previously cut the coil cable and respliced it about a year ago because I found a place in the cable that I could tell a wire had broken. Worked fine...
