    GTI 2500

Here's an opinion ... hoping it's helpful. First, some background, just to get a feel for it. I've been detecting since 1989 in fields, woods, and beaches. That includes in New England and in Florida. I've been in clean fields, trashy parks, curb strips, and beaches. That is just to paint...

    Got some more goodies

Great finds. Any time you find a 1937 Buffalo nickel, take a good look at his legs. If he's got only 3 legs, you've got a valuable coin there. Here's a place to find coin values: https://www.usacoinbook.com/coins/974/nickels/buffalo/1937-D/3-legs/ Cheers, Joe

Fairgrounds Barber Quarter / Outstanding 1930s Saddle Bronc Rider Pin / Old Nickels And Other Silver

Those are fabulous finds. I wouldn't even want to say which one is "best" -- each one is unique and it would make a great day in detecting. Well done!

    Some Shallow Finds

These were found in a vacant lot in Jacksonville, detected with the owner's permission. The square nail probably goes back to some houses that were built there in the 1880s and 1890s. It was about 4 inches down. The non-metal items (the super ball and cigars wrapper) came up with some metal...

    Four Cents (Looks Like Three)

It's the "E PLURIBUS UNUM" text above the Memorial. The item is about 3/16 inch thick. It has two new pennies inside. It has a round "gold" frame (not real gold), with glass windows on the front and back to show the pennies. I wonder why they put two coins inside, one facing front and the...

Terrible Merc. and Key spill !!?

Why would anybody lose so many keys together, all in one place? Why would they be carrying so many keys "loose", and not on a ring of some kind?

    Four Cents (Looks Like Three)

These came out of some curb strips in Jacksonville, Florida. The first is a piece of jewelry, with two pennies inside it. (That's why there's a total of four cents in the photos.) The middle is an odd one. It's been clipped on the edges. Why? The last one is a real nice Wheat. It's been...

Hit The Hill Before Sunrise And Got More Roundness In The Snow

We don't get snow down here in Florida, but gotta admit.... The wife is from Boston, Massachusetts ... we've lived there and ... there's nothing better than the days when the Spring thaw comes, and the snow goes ... and the British colonial and early American coins are there in the ground...

My first Barber dime in an unlikely place.

You never know what the most "unlikely" place will show. Well done! The guy who lost it might have reached in his pocket, came up empty, and walked around looking for it. A dime was a big deal in those days. Geezer story: When I was a very young kid (1939), I was walking down a sidewalk...

    Beep. Dig. Gold.

More finds in Australia: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-australia-53857557 First, they shoveled away some of the surface dirt. Then they used their detectors. Cheers, Joe

An Hour on a Curb Strip

IowaRelic asked: " Which coil were you using?" It's the standard Teknetics concentric elliptical 5-1/2 by 9-1/2 inches. I also have the little 5 inch round coil and the big 12 inch round coil. They get used sometimes, but the 5x9 seems perfect for curb strips. Cheers, Joe

An Hour on a Curb Strip

Just an hour on a short curb strip, with the Teknetics Omega 8000 . . . So many beeps and targets. Nickels and pull tabs were notched out. I spent more time kneeling down and digging plugs than swinging the coil. Nothing fancy . . . but still a good day all around. Got rid of some...

    Two Halfs in the Hole

A wrap-up on the two Kennedy halfs. They went with some other coins to get a cold six-pack. I'm enjoying 1/6th of it now -- it's 103 degrees outside. Now they can continue their journey from the store's cash drawer to somebody's pocket, and onward to more pockets, and then maybe they...

    Two Halfs in the Hole

These came out of a curb strip along a sidewalk. They were about one foot apart. I wonder about how they came out looking so different. There wasn't anything else in the holes. Cheers, Joe

    Searched an Old Shady Spot

Several years ago the city (Jacksonville, Florida) demolished an old building downtown, and planted new grass on the lot. Part of the area was a small shady spot on the corner, with a historical marker and public benches for cooling off on a hot day. They took out all of that too, and just...
