ID in iron, I didn't know this..

I've seen that video before but to be honest, I really didn't catch on to what he was doing. But now I get it. My approach from now on will be to disengage the horseshoe when I get in a heavily iron infested area.

ID in iron, I didn't know this..

It will take me a while to decipher all that information, but I will. But to clear up one point... I was only getting negative VDIs with mixed tones on a full sweep of the coil, when iron was on. (NO positive VDI) I didn't get a positive VDI (with iron on)until I wiggled or hovered.

ID in iron, I didn't know this..

I have just always done separation test with the iron on. Horse shoe engaged. And most of the time that's the way I hunt, iron on. What I found out today is that with the iron off I got a totally different ID than with it on. Like I said, I didn't know. And I'm sure I'm not the only one...

ID in iron, I didn't know this..

I did a quick test when I got home today. I wanted to get a better idea of the settings I should use at a really good site that is full of square nails. Saturday and Sunday I had to use an FE of 5 to avoid digging so many nails. And I still dug some at 5. I have a test I do with a coin and 3...

    First hunt with 900

I may get one later. I had one on order an cancel it and got the 900. It may be slightly better but don't think it's 500 dollars better from what I've seen.

    First hunt with 900

I would definitely get the 900 over the 800 if I didn't already have an 800. To me the 900 feels and swings better. Definitely appears to be built better. Comes with 6 inch coil. In one test I did it separated better than the 800. In one test there was no depth advantage but on another target...

    First hunt with 900

Thanks, I'll give it a try next time I'm in heavy iron. I generally use Park 1 since it gives me a more accurate ID on the deeper targets.

    First hunt with 900

I went back to the same site today and used the 900 again. I still dug some nails that sounded really sweet, even at F5. Again, very few desirable targets but I did find a large cent. But not in the best shape. Pretty sure it was in a fire, but it's the only sign of a fire I've seen at this site.

    First hunt with 900

Thanks. That's a tough question and it's really too early to say. I'm having a hard time deciding what machine I'm going to use tomorrow. I'm probably going to use the 900 but the Deus II will definitely be in the truck in case I change my mind. I really hope that Minelab does something about...

    First hunt with 900

Not many good targets, plenty of trash. I've hunted this site heavily over the last month. But I've attached a picture of a really nice fatty I found today so you can understand why I keep going back. I did dig approximately twice as many square nails as i have been digging at this site with...

    Looking for Display cover Manticore

Here's my new cover for the 900. Pretty nice. Don't mind that fatty sitting on it.

    Decided on the Equinox 900

I totally understand your disappointment. My 900 was shipped in the same type of box. But I'm almost sure it's not the dealers that pack and ship, it's the distributor.

    Tested the 900

It may do better for you, I was really hoping my results would have been better. I couldn't resist trying the 6". I went back out to give it a quick test. I really like the separation results I got. It really did well, even when I raised the coil. I tried a 6" on the 800 a while back and...

    Decided on the Equinox 900

In my test today it did beat the 800 slightly on depth and by a long shot on separation. But that was only one test.

    Tested the 900

I did a little more testing today. I matched the settings as best I could on all machines. Totally non bias, I just want to hunt with the best machine. Depth test: I laid a 4 and 3/4" box over top of my 11in dime. With equal settings neither the 800 or 900 could give a signal on the dime...

    Looking for Display cover Manticore

Yes, but I understood him to say that they were different. He has 2 different ones listed. Mine will be here tomorrow for the 900. I ordered a little early.

    Looking for Display cover Manticore

I agree, I have one of his covers for every detector I'm currently using. His name starts with Nuff. I don't think he would be a competitor with any sponsor that I know of.

    Decided on the Equinox 900

I just hope it holds up over time. I like everything to be inline and stay that way.

    Decided on the Equinox 900

I did about 45 minutes of testing in my garden when I got home today. I tried the 800, 900 and Deus II. All with 11in coils. This was depth testing only. Deep High Conductor on Deus II. Reactivity 0. Park 1 on 800 and 900. Reactivity 3. It was as low as I could go and still have what I...

    Decided on the Equinox 900

I just tried tightening the cams a little more. I did get it to stop twisting. The cam is almost touching when closed in order to keep it from twisting.
