    CW Camp finds

Got out this weekend to a site I only get to frequent 3, 4, times a year. It was great to hit some familiar soil that still holds plenty. Seemed to be just as I had left it on the last dig. At the very end of the day I located a trash pit or possible Soldiers Hut (2nd pic), have only scratched...

Got out before the Big Freeze

Some Gardners and Round balls and managed a 69 cal. The button I'm not sure about...cuff sized 1 piece, lined field, 5 pointed star in center surrounded by 17 stars...I'm thinking Maine Militia or some kind of Patriotic, anyone know ? Actually lol, not quite sure about the lead stopper looking...

    My Bullets match your Button......Rifle

Got out yesterday for a couple hours. These were recovered at a Confederate staging site for battle, that turned into a 2 week camp. Got into a HotSpot just at the edge of dark, and started pulling up the dropped Gardners and noticed they all still had powder in the bottom, left 2 in the pic...

Got a Breast Plate this evening.....

Was delayed and only got in a little over an hour to dig on a cleared lot, but it was a good hour. Last trip there I only got a piece of a plate, I knew there was a good one at this site. Today I'll have time for a much tighter search. Thanks for looking and Good Luck in your Digs, Dave

    Rock Hard dry ground but............

Construction down the street offered opportunity so I got out my chiseling shovel. Silver piece appears to be a Sutler Wagon piece and I'd like to think C.E.D. stands for Confederate Engineer Dept............lol, I wish. Anyway thanks for looking and Good Luck in your Digs, Dave

    Fridays Relics

One of my favorite standby spots will be no more, the dozers have come once again. This has always been a productive Confederate site for me, with many coin finds, and today no different finding the usual. Though a small site under fast construction, I'll do my best to save whats left before...

    Fridays Diggin

This was one of my favorite places to go when nothing else was going on, could always dig something here on every visit, and could always count on diggin some silver and something Confederate. Today was no different; some flat buttons, a couple Confederate Gardners, 1759 necklaced Reale, and a...

    Yesterdays Hut Dig

The bottle is E.R. Squibb, I'm told its a medicine. I'm always amazed at the rough condition of hut buttons. Unfortunately the reddish looking one is a Maine State button that was burned in the chimney...a far cry from the one I dug last year with all its gold gilt. Can anyone, Dave@Dixie...

    My First Electrolysis

I posted this Musket Rifle back in May when it was recovered from a trash pit in the Infantry camp. Thanks to the new magazine "American Digger" which released an article on the method, I was able to turn my rusty stick into a displayable Musket. The article made it sound so easy.....turns out...
