    Equinox 900 on the way

Took it for a little spin. Not much left here at home to dig up but did find some modern bullets and old shotgun brass with ease. I am looking forward to getting on a real hunt with it though.

First Impressions with the Xterra Pro

Oh and also on the vanquish compared to this xterra....being multi freq it did false more in iron. Since this new xterra is single freq it is easier to deal with. Not perfect but your not going to be swinging and chasing ghost signals anywhere near as much.

First Impressions with the Xterra Pro

Yes but not as much as what you would expect. It makes kind of a clipped hollow sound on iron. So it sounds kind of like an echo somewhat. But when you turn off the horseshoe it does quieten it down a lot. So today I took it on a little maiden voyage in my mom in laws back yard. Now I have...

    Equinox 900 on the way

From everything I have saw I like it. How stable is the vdi on good targets like coins at average depth? And also how much better do you think the overall build quality is??

First Impressions with the Xterra Pro

Took it for a spin in a 70s yard. Well it bangs out great on targets.....however so far I am not getting great VDI numbers. Now with that said....the signals I did get were ones left over from other units I did not dig because they were questionable in the first place. I dug a whatzit and 2...

First Impressions with the Xterra Pro

If you look in the Post above the one you replied to you will see my results. Now this is with all 3 freq and trying all 3 settings on reactivity as well. The little test bed I have currently is set up for kind of iffy signals. In other words.....it is not set up for correct ID but set up...

First Impressions with the Xterra Pro

No it does not ID the correct number. On an air test I get 28 for a nickle. I am getting 77 to 83 on the one in my test bed in field 1 and 2. And in park one it seems to hang around in the 54 to 62 range.

    Whites quantum 2 anyone??

No problem....I remember that guy too back when I had my first one. I printed put like 10 pages or more of his notes from the internet.

    Equinox 900 on the way

I have decided to go with an equinox 900 coming from using XP products for the past few years. Nothing against XP at all. They are fantastic units. I had an eq600. I liked a lot of things about it except for the numbering scale and also the not so great locking collars the first generation...

    9" coil or another machine?

I just got one of those myself. Good fun well made little unit.

    Whites quantum 2 anyone??

I do like it and it does pretty good for average coin shooting for sure. I will most likely play with it for a bit and offer it up for sale

First Impressions with the Xterra Pro

I am very pleased at how much more robust the new shaft is. Way more sturdy with this set up compared to what the 1st generation equinox shaft shape and locking collars were. And the adjustable control pod is a great feature that I am sure other companies may follow. The only tools needed...

Difference between iron false and co-located signals?

Single freq is your friend in high iron. So with that being said.....I would run deus mono with a kHz in the 30khz range. From my experience.....that seems to work pretty good. The iron falsing comes from the edge of the coil coming close to iron using multi freq.

    Whites quantum 2 anyone??

Yes 6.59....however....you are correct.....25 offsets of 6.59.....I stand corrected. In the manual it shows 1 to 25 transmit freq. And several pages over it goes ointo details about them and then it shows they are offset freqs.

    Whites quantum 2 anyone??

Yes 1996....i downloaded the manual and sure enough it was right there and I have tried it and it works. Yes it takes the old 6.59 coils too.

    Whites quantum 2 anyone??

Now it has been a long while but recently I have bought one of these again. I must say it certainly is a lot faster than the xlt ever seemed to be......at least for me anyway. I did not know this until recently either but it can run from 1khz to 25khz. I am very surprised by that. If detech...

Detech coils for DFX....how good are they??

Thanks for the replies. I forgot that the sef coils were made by detech. I had one of those before. I am thinking of getting 1 of 3 by detech. The 7 or 9 inch ultimate or possibly the 10x14 dd. I would rather have something in the 11 or 12 inch round dd style but I am not having much luck...

Converting Whites coil plugs for older whites units

Well I looked this morning and saw my large dd coil eclipse for the dfx does have the same plug as my quantum 2. ..I plugged it on to the quantum and it works however the depth is terrible. .so with that said.....it is not going to work probably being a different ohm resistance to the unit...

This has turned out to be very interesting!! But what is it??

Unstable vdi on the exterra pro

On the same similar videos the guys are always on the edge of detection....like a 10 inch dime for instance ..it is pretty far down there for a dime at that depth So yes The numbers do bounce around some but the signal still sounds good. So I would still dig it anyways.
