    multi-tone conductive discrimination patterns

What are your thoughts on overly-intricate discrimination patterns reducing depth? Inversely, a much simplified disc. pattern resulting in increased depth. For example, Ive read a few times where an etrac user stated that when they switched to a different, "simpler" coin pattern, the coins...

yet another fun (59c) weekend with my new BFF the e-trac :)

the etrac makes places keep giving up the goods. the etrac is amazing. i had a decent coin reading, i pulled up 3 nails before a wheat popped out. i couldnt beleive it. the etrac amazes me. the way it makes you go slow in highly trashy areas....it tells you everything. i am so impressed and...

25" deep target (not a coin)

i cant beleve i actually found this. this was in my own yard. i could barely dig the hole with a garden shovel. i could hardly reach to the bottom of the hole. some kind of pipe.... just thought it was a curious thing to be able to actually find it....and this was my second attempt at locating...

FUN 68 cent weekend with the etrac

Well I dont know anymore....do i like metal detecting to find stuff or do i like playing "mental tetris" with the noises the etrac pumps at me. :clapping: do i like playing the "etrac game" more? "if i can just put four sweet tones together in a row....BINGO!"....i havent even been paying much...

greatest silver day ive had in years, 5

well what a day....im finally really starting to understand the etrac! that is the best part of this day. i dug my deepest wheat penny at about 7" to dirt level, so give me 1" for grass and air too. im starting to really get the hang of filtering out all the falsing and focus on repeatable...

    metal detecting log/spreadsheet

i find this (a metal detecting log) to be a very helpful and interesting tool for a couple different reasons. i made this simple basic template for downloading, for those that dont keep track of their hunts. if you start on it, i bet you will keep up with it...

    is this normal?

it wasnt raining but the grass was wet, the coil/cover became soaked with water from sweeping on/through the wet grass. i would lift up my coil and a bit of water would pour out of the bottom of the coil scuff cover, trapped between the coil cover and the coil itself. the problem was, as i...

id like to introduce my new oldest dime:clap:

it looks a bit scratched up because it was buried on a sandy hillside (almost pure sand) and i guess it slid down over the years amongst the sand and rocks. i was sooo careful with transporting and cleaning it. it only read about 12-41 (its thin i guess) but this area, almost everything is good...

can anyone recommend a good digger?

right now i have a great digging tool, unfortunately, its also a scary looking weapon (a 15" total length heavy knife) that im afraid of people seeing it so i keep it as hidden as possible. i need a good digger for public places that doesnt look so intimidating. any suggestions? something that...

    battery packs/types question

wierd, i put the etrac sealed battery pack in, it measures 10.8 volts, the etrac says full charge...4 bars i put the 8 cell battery pack in (with eight rechargeable NiMH batteries at about 75% charge) , 10.2 volts, it says flat battery and shuts itself off. i checked and switched a few times to...

    my two cents...

I have found only a few (maybe 5, now) of these in my time and I cant beleive I found two in the same day, only about 10' apart from each other....almost blew my headphones of, each reading a loud 11-46. Kinda funny at first the first one I found was about 4" deep and I caught a glimpse of it...

    sounds?

im curious how you folks like your etrac to sound off on targets. i tried "long" yesterday, all day, and i liked it. at the end of the day i was really tired of listening to the e-trac though....i was just tired in general. i found a couple good things i will show later when i get home :) i was...

why does quick mask seem more powerful?

why does it seem like when i detect in quickmask the detector seems to "hit" targets so much easier, but with jumpier numbers, and if so, then how can i apply this to my nomal detecting using discrimination?
