    A different kind of treasure

    I forgot about the turpentine,, the grandparents always had cans of turpentine and linseed oil around . Spraying a good dose of it in those cracks might keep them from opening up much more ,, good luck.

    I've had that happen quite a few times ,,, I just figured it was just good Ole Uncle Sam scanning and gathering info on all of my treasures I'm pulling from the earth ,,, making sure I give them their cut . 😁

    You can rub that thing down with Boiled Linseed Oil. That stuff is great for outside woods ,, like axes , shovels , rakes ,, and porch statues . But check around 1st , if you'd like,, I'd hate to tell you wrong,, but that linseed oil will definitely help from the weather.

    A lady used to let me stay in her cabin when I was working at the beach ,, she lives in a gated community,, 200 miles inland ,, well her neighbors ,, just a man and wife ,, the husband would buy 1 or 2 + of a few $ 100.00 scratch off tickets . Well , the guy hit a 10 million dollar winner one...

    That's pretty doggone nice there,, have you got an idea of a time period ?? I'm gonna guess 40s - 50s . Was the inside of the case clean ,, free of dirt ? Or did they just clean up that nice ?? Awesome find.
