Well i did an air test on the 18 inch compared to the 15x12.......i don't take much from such tests but it gives an idea if comparing coils on the same machine. The test was done indoors so sensitivity had to be turned down compared to settings used on the beach to keep it stable........the same...

As OL said they are reinforced and do seem quite strong. The other thing is the coil isn't as heavy as you would think,i was very surprised. The plastic coiltek uses seems to be a bit more pliable than that of some other coils......more flexible and less brittle.Time will tell but i'm confident...

It's a great coil bud.......my finds rate at the beach has gone up using it,mainly because of the extra ground coverage i think, thats why i got the 18 inch. I used to think depth was the most important factor on the beach but on the beaches i hunt,i have found that most of my good finds have...

NEL Tornado 13x12 or 13” Ultimate

Hi bud,i recently bought the Nel Tornado and it's very impressive, very sensitive to tiny objects, deep and covers more ground than the 10 inch tornado......which is also a great coil. The Nel is stable and easy to pinpoint with too, brilliant piece of kit.

Well i went and did it.......why not eh,you only live once. Here are some comparison photos to the 12x10 and 15x12.......also the minelab 10 inch tornado.......the 18 inch is a monster.

I was back at the beach today so i took my quarter with me to see where the 15x12 maxed out on depth.14 inches was a good practical signal,ie,would have picked it up as i walked along sweeping my coil at normal speed.Settings used were sensitivity 20,recovery 1,dp tones and ground...

    Equinox 15" Coil

I'd be very interested in the redults.👍👍

    Equinox 15" Coil

I use one on the xterra pro at the beach and my findings are exactly the same as yours.......i don't think it gives a massive depth advantage over the 12 (does in air) although it's still better but the ground coverage definately helps increase the finds rate.I never have any trouble pinpointing...

    CTX 3030 compared to Manticore

There is mothing about your post i never got........the whole point of my original post is his tests are totally invalid in real detecting conditions,it matters not one jot that they may be valid in the conditions he is conducting them in.How many people do you think conduct their detecting on...

    5.00 Nautilus Detector

I owned three DMC2B'S in all........best detectors i ever owned and a joy to use.Suppport dried up in the UK and i had to part with them.😔

    CTX 3030 compared to Manticore

Nobody was "attacking" him, just responding to a post that may influence newcomers to the hobby in a negative way, thats my point and i don't want to see anybody buy a certain metal detector,or indeed refuse to buy one on the strength of tests that are totally innacurate and false.......i did when...

    Detect Chaser compared to ?

Not a very detailed video but looks like this could be in damp sand at the beach which would suggest it might be good there too......its hitting better than the 800 by the looks of it.🤔

    Detect Chaser compared to ?

Don't know a lot about it but you have to be careful.......what fequency is it running at.The original was 14 khz but i believe a couple of other versions came out with lower and higher fequencies, one at around 5 khz and one close to 30 khz. The 14 khz would be great for most detecting...

Yes,im impressed with the depth and i will test it to its maximum when im next down the beach.......as i ssid,i was getting a measured 12 inches on a quarter with a very positive two way signal ,(15×12 coil) so i assume it will hit another good few inches with a diggable signal.I thought the...

    Pro v Elite.

Thanks Confetrit, your post is much appreciated.By the sounds of it switching to the elite may not be of any advantage.I'm getting good depth with the pro and 15x12 anyway so I might just stick with it.....12 inches on a quarter in the wet sand with a very good two way signal so I think it will...

Thanks for that bud.....i sort of had the same with the 15x12 coil......quite a gain in air depth testing but on the wet sand that advantage was wiped out a bit, still a small inprovement though and coverage is great.I was wondering if the loss in the sand may have been down to the single...

Has anybody done any depth tests between the two machines on the same targets, particularly at the beach on the wet sand?? I have the Pro and bought the 15x12 for it.......great on the beach depth wise, but if the Elite gets a couple of inches more i'm willing to upgrade. Cheers guys.

    CTX 3030 compared to Manticore

DF.......the CTX is a great detector, although some of the tests we are talking about would make some people believe otherwise. As i've said, some detectors that seem to do badly on such air tests perform brilliantly on real targets and vice versa.

    CTX 3030 compared to Manticore

I never said you did tell anybody to buy anything you fruitcake......you obviously don't read posts properly.......tell me where i said that.I think i said that the sort of tests you post may influence the choice of detector they purchase which would be a shame.......it's nice to see people...

    CTX 3030 compared to Manticore

Thanks bud........I never claim to know everything and I know there are far cleverer people on here than I am but I have done extensive testing over the years with real targets and I know, like most, that tests in air are pointless. As i said,I don't like the idea that people, particularly those new...
