    Winter Detecting!

Went out to one of my 300 beaches in Cornwall the other day and there were so many fishing weights in a small area of a washed out beach that I didn't even need to stand up but of course the detector started to play up and had to stop. Found out the reason, it was the headphones, I think the on...

    Winter Detecting!

The reason I use this method as most of my detecting is done in rock pools full of shingle and sand so I can use the probe to dig right down to the bottom of the hole, as the probe is so old the copper coil is showing through the protective coating so I don't think a rubber grommet would last...

    Winter Detecting!

Just got my 12 year old Vibra Probe ready for my winter detecting on my local beaches, digging in the sand and rock pools. Only took me 1.5hrs sitting in the sun shine to shave last years protection off and replace it with new Resin Putty as the tip had worn right down to the tip.

Lost My Pin Pointer.... Damn It..! Need Advice

I use a Vibra probe 580! which I have had now for about 12 years, all of my detecting is done on my local 300 beaches here in Cornwall. The probe is attached to the harness with about 3ft of 40lb fishing line which gives plenty of area to scan. The tip is covered with a resin putty which...

    Dogs and metal detectors

That's why I always keep my Detector attached to my Harness with a length of rope as I mainly detect beaches and you never know if anyone will run off with it, I am far too old to chase anyone but one day a large dog thought my border spade was a stick to throw for him and tried to pinch it.

Newer coins dissolving in the ground

I have the same over here in the UK, a lot of my finds are Victorian Edward VII and George V & VI pennies which can be in very good condition even having been in the sea for at least 50 years bur the modern coins are rubbish as even a couple of years old are rotten.

    Charging

Thank you all. Think I have now solved the problem, I found a new spare charging cable still in the small box with all the screen protectors that seemed to work as I now have a full charge. Thought I was going to have to go back to my Detector pro Wader with the Blue shaft which is now about 12...

    Charging

Put my 800 on charge last week and even after a few hours the battery only showed half charge even though the light was flashing. Any ideas please?

Manticore presale going for 2k online

Does nobody think the same as me. The price of detectors is getting totally stupid. I only bought an 800 because I found enough Gold to pay for it. I still use my Detector Pro Wader which I have been using for the past 10 years which I paid £175 for and the first time out I was very lucky and...

    Going crazy!!!

I thinkI may have found the problem. I was down at one of my beaches yesterday and the 800 started to play up so I knelt down to check the coil and I felt a vibration by my knee my 10 year old Vibra probe had switched itself on and as they hate each other there was a lot of noise, so I think...

I'm not loving the grip on the Equinox

As i have said before the most comfortable grip I have found is by just putting my fingers under the grip and putting my thumb on top and at the edge of the control box, don't have any problems and I am 73.

My season is coming to a close...

Here in Cornwall my season is just starting, most of the tourists have now gone home. During the summer I gave up detecting as I mostly do beaches around here but the weather was hot and with no wind the sand was getting deeper and deeper every week but now the winds are picking up they will...

    Going crazy!!!

Went to a beach on the opposite side of the County the day after, the 800 seemed to be running better but not perfect, may have to bring out my Detector Pro Wader from retirement.

    Going crazy!!!

Been down that beach loads of times and never had a problem, will go again when the tides are right, there may be a new cell tower that has not been there before I shall check.

    Going crazy!!!

Went down the beach the other day when my nox 800 went crazy, beeping all the time and giving loads of different numbers, I removed the skid plate twice and washed it off I also removed the coil from the machine which seemed to help but sometimes still goes mad sometimes. Any ideas please.

    Equinox 2 on the horizon?

I have the same problem at the moment. All my beaches have very deep sand so not worth detecting on. The other week I went away for a few days a hundred miles away as checking the web cam of the area showed that the beach was totally washed out but all I found was loads of lead and a few old...

The Equinox obsolete? I do not think so!!

They are only obsolete when they no longer work. My detector pro wader with the Blue shaft still works after about 12 years and is great in very rocky areas.
