    The Last Coin

When the E-Trac first came out and I started saving to buy one. That was 4 years ago and something always came up and what I had saved was gone. So owning one still stayed on my bucket list. Then in Nov. 2010 a doctor told me I h5 times more old coins this year then I have in the previous 3...

    6-30

A solid 6-30 from all ways, strange number but decided to dig to see what gave those numbers anyway it was only an inch down. Turned out to be a clad quarter and nickel side by side.

    Jumping Jefferson's

Or any other nickel. Nickels that are 3" and deeper the numbers for the most part will jump around. I hunt mostly in TTF so the numbers are the final say in whether I dig the signal or not. Yesterday I got a hit with the numbers on the 1st pass reading 8-11, next pass was 10-12. Turning 90...

    Coin depth-------A discussion

I have seen posts where someone will state that coins sink. I believe that coins do not sink; exceptions would be where water action would cause coins to sink or an earthquake. I am referring to coins in a lawn or similar ground covered in vegetation. Grass grows and is mowed or dies and...

    E-Trac the nickel machine.

I have seen a number of posts about how good the E-Trac is on nickels; so did a little math from the last 4 years. In 2008 through 2010 I hunted with my 25 year old Garrett and the percent of my finds that were nickels was 6.17%. This year with my new E-Trac the percentage is 13.81%. The...

    Gold jewelry

The CO numbers on gold jewelry is all over the place. The reason lies in the composition and mass of the piece. Gold jewelry comes in 10K (41.6 %gold), 14K (58.33%), 18K (75%), 22K (91.67%). In 18K gold the alloys can be any number of combinations such as 75% gold and 25% copper; or 25%...
