    New to hobby

Thank you for the anniversary wishes. Old age, what are you talking about? Just because we have been detecting since the mid 70's doesn't make us old does it? It would be hard to find anyone who could outdo you on a DFX or V3i (Steve might give you some tough competition on the v3i), and I think...

    New to hobby

Welcome to a great hobby. The Peoria Area Treasure Hunters Club is located in Peoria Illinois if you are close to there. We are a friendly group and are always happy to help other detectorists. Youtube videos such as the ones Odanscoils posted are a big help also.

Most metal objects that oxidize in the ground will over time leave a trace halo around them. When you get time this spring some of us can get together with you and give some pointers on detecting techniques.

MarineMettle said: Glacial flour?!?!😂. I’ve never heard that term before. Lol. It's glacial flour gold and is gold the glacier brought down from Canada that has been ground down into tiny pieces. Sometimes we find bigger pieces that are called pickers. We can pick those up with our fingers.

I've been detecting for around 45 years and it never gets old. The Hoover Boys dig huge plugs. Around here on public ground it's a good idea to keep the plug diameter around 4 inches or less depending on how well your machine pinpoints. You can use google sites like Historic Map Work to bring up...

Hi Ryan. Welcome to the detecting world. I imagine you will enjoy it. \ As for this being a dead forum, the club doesn't use it much anymore for some reason. I try to monitor it in case someone asks about the club. I'm not familiar with the NM simplex machines. The important thing to...

Hi MarineMettle. This is a fairly small group at the moment. We usually have 10 or 12 members at a meeting. Our membership fees are $25 for a single member and $35 for a family. A family membership consists of 2 spouses and up to 2 children. Additional family members are $10 per person...

This is a sad time for the Peoria Area Treasure Hunters club (PATH)

There is a small parking area on the right side of the road on top of the hill. It is a parking area for the lodge. They should be meeting there. If anything changes, I'll post it for you here.

This is a sad time for the Peoria Area Treasure Hunters club (PATH)

Hi Tom. Yes, as far as I know, The hunt is still on. You should get a reminder notification by text this Friday or Saturday. Do you need any information, directions or start time? Just so you know, you can go early and hunt the area as much as you like before the club fun hunt. I should...

This is a sad time for the Peoria Area Treasure Hunters club (PATH)

Hi Larry. Hope this finds you and Nancy well. It seems that over the last couple years our president has decided that things have to be done his way instead of the way they were done in the past. I won't go into a rant here but lets just say the club has problems. I quit coming to this...
