Rob and I had a wonderful opportunity to hunt in Virginia this past weekend. We were invited to participate in a relic hunt in Suffolk, Virginia. This was a 125 acre area that had two old home sites and also had some CW activity around it. They limited the hunt to 40 people and we were...

Ha ha ha ....I think my subject line is pretty funny because I doubt if it would peak anyone's interest...however...it's kind of special for me. Before yesterday, my silver coin count for the year was at 96. I was so close to 100 .... I was just itching to try and get to 100 just for kicks...

Weekend Hunt - Rescued another first!

Hey Everyone: I hope you had a terrific weekend. Here in northeast Ohio...we just can't seem to get a bad day. However, I wouldn't mind some rain due to the dry ground conditions. I found it funny that SooperDave responded to my last post about what was next on my "bucket list" of coins to...

Silvers and Goodies from our last few hunts!!

Rob had some spectacular finds! He found a V nickel (1907) and it's in really great shape. He also found a beautiful crotal bell, a couple of Indian head pennies (1905 and 1886). Now that's an old Indian,1944 Merc and a Sterling silver baby ring. Remember how I was without a large cent...

Ms. Lady Liberty - Pleased to make your acquaintance!

HOORAY!!!! FINALLY!! I found my first large cent and boy she is lovely!! I could not have been more excited, especially that Rob helped me to rescue her from underneath that root and witnessed our introduction. He has already found 5 large cents so...it was my turn. :-) I was shocked at...

    Scandanavian Silver!

Got a quick hunt in this morning before work and decided to dig what I thought was a classic penny signal...10:38. But then I saw the old familiar silver shining in the dirt and was thinking...what in the world? Is this a tiny silver coin?? Turned out to be this cool little Scandinavian...

    Hello Mr. Barber!!

I love the little 2 hour hunts you are able to get in before or after work...especially when "he" (1916 no mint mark Barber dime) :bouncy:decides to show up!! Also found a 50 year old buick key tucked way under a root. Great and beautiful morning...left just in time for the thunderstorms to...

Ship Ha'penny and slammin' Silver weekend!!

What an incredible weekend!! Rob and I went to a place we have detected several times in the past and we have had pretty good success with some wheats and silver and vintage type relics. For some reason, this weekend here was phenomenal for us both. 2 silvers on Saturday and 6 on Sunday...

    1898 House - Today's finds

Hey Everyone: So awesome checking out everyone's finds. I have an opportunity to hunt an 1898 house and this is what I have been able to find so far: Some junk metal for scrap ... except I thought one piece was pretty special. Turns out it is crossed cannons from 32nd Field Artillery...

Well well lookie what I found.....

Yep the good ol' trusty swinging the coil on the way back to the car with no real intent ...oh and did I mention I had it in TTF mode? This was the craziest find ever since I was just sort of walking along and aimlessly swingin' the coil. Heard a high tone...took a glance...22:45, 12:45... 6"...

My frown just turned upside down!!

It's been a rough couple of weeks regarding "finds" for my treasure hunting outings. Since our little treasures at the 1880's farmhouse, my findings have been rather scarce. No silver at all for 3 weeks now. Uggg! Friday, Saturday, and Sunday was spent at some pretty old places and I had...

    Any guesses what this is?

I already placed this on the "Whatzit Forum" but wanted to run it by y'all!! It's about 2-3 lbs. 7.5" in diameter and found at a shallow depth (2-3") and it does not stick to a magnet. Some type of shield??? So small though. Found at an 1880 farm house.

    Ummm clueless....what is this????

 Found this relatively shallow in the ground but at an old 1880 farm house. Any clue? It is pretty heavy like about 2-3 lbs. It does not stick to a magnet and it is 7.5" in diameter.

    Here's My 2 Cents!!

Hello Everyone: Yeah...Spring is here and sunny days have arrived!! Over the last two weekends, Rob and I received permission from a friend of mine to detect at an old 1880 farmhouse he purchased. A lot of restoration is needed for this place but it will be a beauty when he is done...
