best in mineralized soil for coins

Looking for a lightweight detector for a man in his eighties (my dad) that will be easy to swing for a few hours at a time. Tesoro came to mind. However, I want him to have something that will serve him well. Probably will take him to old homesites and parks mostly looking for coins. Our soil is...

    E trac.....ctx....or other

Recently purchased a new (12/16) t2 classic. Got the nel sharpshooter coil. Like what I see so for. Looking at getting a good coin machine and the e trac and ctx interest me but I am concerned that they will struggle (with depth) in my ground. Fe 3-4 bars (some 5 bars) and G.C. phase is 65-75...

I have read many posts on all brand forums and watched too many youtube videos trying to narrow the field. I hunt mostly old homesites. As you know...

    Farm fields

I'm just curious about detecting farm fields. I have hunted mostly old home sites for relics and an occasional coin. Also, old school yards from time to time. Anyone had any luck in fields that have been farmed for many years? They are in abundance and I would think many would be accessible. I...

    dense red clay machine?

I have a Fisher cz6a that I have had calibrated and certified by Tom Dankowski and converted to cz3d specs as well. The detector was certified to 11.2" in Toms Florida soil. I have been unable to get more than about 5" on coins in my soil which is dense red clay. So my question is, if any of you...

    cz6a or me

I have a cz6a that I bought used and it is in very nice cosmetic condition. Hardly looks used. Has the 8"coil. I took it out to the test garden and have some concerns. I could get a positive high tone signal and id on clad quarter at 5"....zinc penny 5"....clad dime 4". Same coins at depths...
