    Nox 800 Mods

Issues come into play for surf hunters with a loose coil. If the coil is loose, a wave can easily flip it forcefully. Forcefully enough to break your coil ears. Shimming out for a super snug fit is the best option.

    Depth?

I have no skin in the soil game, or experience. But there are some whispering about people searching in one frequency and not using multi frequency. I am not just talking about the new 4khz either.

    Large Coil

Well, Salt or Freshwater can and will make a difference. Freshwater, yes you can expect gains in coverage and depth. The only wild card would be a possibility of increased EMI. Saltwater water, much larger question marks. Wet sand, Black sand, and moving water can all create havoc on a...

    3RD EQUINOX BITES THE DUST...

Well now you have! Mine got water in it from showering it off in a very low pressure beach shower. For me, damp towel from now on.

    Is it water safe?

Minelab has not "reconditioned" anything. Parts to build a new one are in short supply!! ZERO change to manufacturing procedures.

    Is it water safe?

You have a serial number [which is highly tracked] by Minelab. My unit that was replaced was a different serial#, so was Calabash's. That does not not mean it was new! I inspected mine for ware and handling marks. I would say there is a ZREO percent chance of getting your "own unit" back as a...

Of course there is no debate of anything you say. What sensitivity are you able to use in Park 1?

    setup nox600 for freshwater hunting

Interesting! Since I only Salt Water hunt [beach 1&2], I am totally ignorant of the other modes and their operation. I can usually run in 22-23 sensitivity. So it poses an interesting question. Can beach 1 or 2 handle freshwater conditions better and allow for higher sensitivity? Also in...

    Wobbly coil

The bolt is 5/16, your length is right on the edge. Either 2" or 2 1/2. Depending on washer thickness? Get the 2 1/2 you can always cut a little off.

    Wobbly coil

From a few posts down, no more sand or water in my coil, EVER! All of that sand and water weight adds to coil ear problems! https://www.findmall.com/threads/equinox-coil-mod.350614/

    Wobbly coil

If you have some clearance issues with the coil stiffener do a little shaping with a Dremel tool. I had to with one of my coil projects. Yes the bolt will be short. Try to head to a larger hardware store. The nylon bolts are in the specialty cases. Don't forget enough length for the double nut!

    Wobbly coil

I am not a fan of the Minelab bolt. It can hold up to a tablespoon of sand/dirt. I use a 5/16 Nylon bolt. It will need to be double nutted to lock it in. Also as Doug stated, shim into your coil ears with something [i use rubber fender washers.]

Depth Bug on the new version

Don't be afraid to uninstall this update and try a re-install. The 1st update minelab released had some people doing this. Also I highly recommend doing a factory reset on the machine before any installs! Dave

Great video by Calabash on 4 Klz!

The 4Khz is a single choice frequency. 4Khz does not run in Multi.
