1798 Large Cent and a musketball

Wow the condition is crazy good. Breaking into the 1700's US coinage is a major find congrats! Looks like a die crack at 2 o-clock on the obverse.

    Building my own headphones

I'm using the Minelab WM09 wireless with these headphones on the Manticore. (y)

Who uses their wired headphones with the Equinox or Manticore detectors?

Thanks, yes I cut the 1/4 inch plug off the Minelab adapter cable and hard wired that end into the headphones.

    Building my own headphones

All the years I used Pro Golds I always had both volumes at max so easy decision for me to just eliminate the adjustable volume pots. Ditto for the limiters, never required for my personal use. Note though Audiosears does sell a version of this speaker with limiters built right in.

    Building my own headphones

Yes definitely and 12 decibels louder than the best quality speaker I tested from Digikey. I found it near impossible to find another speaker that size that's 150 ohms. Wired in series that's 300 ohms total which likely explains the additional 12 decibels of loudness. The Digikey speakers were...

Who uses their wired headphones with the Equinox or Manticore detectors?

If they have yellow knob tips you can rewire them to work. The foam ear cups just pop off, grab them near the headband stem and pull, it takes a bit of effort. Then you can get at the wiring inside. Also clean or replace the foam, clean the grates. That foam can degrade to the point that it...

Who uses their wired headphones with the Equinox or Manticore detectors?

I'm using Sunray Pro Gold style for my Manticores. Since Pro Golds are no longer available and my old ones were toast I purchased the parts and assembled some new pairs myself. I upgraded a few things. Also eliminated all the toggles and volume adjusters, not needed on the Manticore. I use them...

    Building my own headphones

My old Sunray Pro Golds are shot and no longer available. So I'm building my own headphones for the 2 Manticores and my old Explorer SE Pro. I started with three sets of Pro Ears hearing protection. Same style headband, leather earmuffs. I'm using the Radiosears 2463 speakers. I 3D printed...

Built a probe for my Manticore

    Coins on edge hunting.

Built a probe for my Manticore

You know...there is a very old park in a major city Ed and I hunted once. The soil there is incredible, you could run the Explorer at max sensitivity and it was stable. I like the idea of taking the Manticore beast back there and see what it can do, I'm adding that to my upcoming detecting trip!

Built a probe for my Manticore

100% approve of your mods David. Great to see someone else modding. For me, having transitioned to mostly beach hunting I never used a probe, didn't need one. Until I started hunting shipwreck beaches. Having dug 40+ shipwreck coins from a single hole, trying to pinpoint with the 11 inch coil...

Built a probe for my Manticore

I came across some posts that suggested an X1 like probe is possible on the Manictore because so long as the wires in the cable connected to the chip in the coil remain connected to the Manticore, only switching the 4 coil wires for the Transmit/Receive windings to the probe, the Manticore...

Built a probe for my Manticore

On the west coast we have nasty volcanic black sand in large volumes from all the volcanoes. It's a detector torture test on how well they deal with it. The Explorer struggled to get depth. I owned a Deus for a while, it was better than the Explorer. The Manticore then beat the Deus. All on the...

Built a probe for my Manticore

The poor Explorer wasn't getting any love since the Manticore arrived. I have 2 SE Pro's. I'm modding one for pure beach hunting, harness mount, it's lighter than the Manticore. The second I turned into this probe. I think I have 4 of the simple buzz probes laying around, I HATE them compared to...

Built a probe for my Manticore

I did some testing, you do need to noise cancel the Manticore obviously because they can't be on the same channel same as any two detectors. After that just keep the probe 18 inches away from the Manticore coil and all is quiet. That's with the probe on 28 sensitivity.

    I have a 2nd job, metal detecting!

Built a probe for my Manticore

Here's my new Explorer SE Pro powered X1 probe for the new Manticore. I was unimpressed with these current buzz probes. The Explorer powered X1 remains KING so I put together a hip mounted X1 probe to pair with the new Manticore. Attached it to my new PANKY detecting pouch which I mounted on...

WM09 for The Manticore, 700/900, and Xterra Pro.

Just received my WM09. Turns out the high prices were MAP, I paid $139.
